Did you want to go to the Gladiator 2 premiere? No, not really. Was Paul forcing you to anyways? Yes, very much so.
Being his sister (and emotional support person), he always brought you on set, to premieres, and anywhere else. That was usually fine. The rest of his projects' premieres had either been in the Lighthouse (your favourite cinema in Dublin), or small enough that you wouldn’t get too overwhelmed. You were famous in your own right, following after your sister and writing music. You didn’t go on stage, but you’d garnered over 10 million listeners, and your album had just been nominated for a grammy, though you had no intention of going. It’s not that you were scared or shy, you were just entirely uninterested in going out in public as a ‘public figure’. It stressed you out, having people know who you are in such detail, so you just kept to yourself. You had no public social media accounts, you didn’t allow your label to post about you unless it was about the music, and you only let Paul or Nell drag you out in public for one of their events. You liked it that way, it was comfortable.
“I’m going to go say hi to some people, you just wait here, yeah?” Paul explained as you two entered the theatre. It was huge, and every celebrity or influencer in the world must’ve been there. You nodded as he walked off and allowed yourself to fade into the background, people-watching as time passed. You noticed the beautiful architecture of the building, the way the celebrities around you mingled, the way-
“Hello.”
You whipped your head around, startled, only to be met with a face you knew quite well. “Jesus, Charles, you scared me,” you chuckled. He blushed slightly as you turned around properly to greet him. “Hi.”
“How are you?” he asked, joining you in your secluded corner.
“I’m fine, thank you. How are you?”
“I am very good,” he smiled, showing off his dimples. “I thought you didn’t like events.”
“I don’t, Paul just asked me to come,” you explained. “My mam would’ve killed me if I didn’t go, so here I am.”
He nodded, understanding. “I tried to find you online, but… you are not a fan of that either?”
You chuckled. “No, not really. Sorry.”
He shook his head. “No, it is ok. I just… wanted to talk more. You are very interesting to me,” he smiled.
“Well, thank you for the glowing review,” you chuckled. “Are you enjoying the evening so far?”
“I am enjoying it a lot more with you here,” he smiled. “But yes, I only watched the first one a few days ago and I thought it was very good, so I am excited to see how this one compares.”
“You’re sure a charmer,” you chuckled. “I hope you enjoy the film. Where are you sitting?”
“Beside Carlos?” he shrugged, an awkward smile on his face. “Carlos knows, but I don’t know where Carlos is.”
You laughed. “Are you always this disorganised?”
“Only when I’m nervous,” he winked at you and the lights started going down, you just offered him to sit next to you, hoping that Nell wouldn’t mind.
You two sat together, enjoying the movie as the night went on, and after you found yourselves at the bar, still chatting. He walked off to find Carlos at one point, looking back with a smile as he waved, promising to come back soon.
“When are you going to realise he’s trying to flirt with you?” Paul laughed. Your face was bright red and your jaw dropped.
You gently (roughly) hit his chest and scoffed. “Shut the fuck up. He is not.”
Paul laughed. “He’s totally into you! Come on, go out with him, please! I want free tickets to Grand Prixs!”
You rolled your eyes as he giggled, and then startled when you bumped straight back into Charles. “Fuck, sorry-” you started apologising but he just shook his head.
“All good,” he smiled.
Paul silently slipped away with a wink, and you were faced with Charles, once again.
“Hi,” you breathed out.
“Hi,” he chuckled, his dimples on full show. “He was right, you know.”
“About what?” you questioned.
“I am flirting with you-or, at least trying to,” he blushed slightly.
“Oh,” you nodded, unsure what to do in a situation where someone was as brazen and blunt. “Right.”
He laughed. “Can I take you out sometime?”
You stared at him, total deer in headlights, then nodded. “Yeah, yeah, sounds grand. Thank you.”
You internally smacked yourself in the face for that. But he just laughed, unfazed by your awkward demeanour.
“Great!” he smiled bashfully. “When are you free?”

well done <33 can i please ask for 68 and hee?
"i'm sorry...what?" heeseung leans forward, eyebrows knit tightly together in confusion.
"you heard me."
"no! i don't think i did!" scoffing with a nervous chuckle, heeseung stands up from the chair in your room and places both hands on top of his head, pacing back and forth.
"please heeseung i hate being so inexperienced. no one has let me do it before so please just let me do it once. i swear it won't change anything with our friendship."
heeseung can't believe what you're saying, genuinely cannot believe what the hell you are talking to him about. he's been your friend since middle school and now that you're in your second year of college the friendship seems pretty set in stone for life.
"say it again," he mumbles, now turning to face you.
"let me ride you."
"fuck...alright. but you're stupid if you think this won't change anything so i hope you're sure about this." truth is, heeseung has been trying to get over the fact that he's been in love with you since the first day you two met. only recently did he finally feel like he was making progress and even contemplated the idea of seriously pursuing this one person who was dropping major hints they are into him (it's the barista at his college campus. they leave their number on heeseung's cup every single day with cute messages and doodles).
but you just had to ask him this, something he would never be able to refuse.
minutes pass in a blur and suddenly both of your clothes are off and heeseung is laying on his back, on hand behind his head as he tries to get a good look at you without completely ogling.
you get on the bed and straddle his hips, careful not to lower yourself on his hardened cock. you wish you had a few more moments to just stare at it, completely thrown off with the length and girth your best friend has been packing this whole time. the thought of that going inside you is exhilarating and terrifying.
once you look into your best friends eyes though and see all the feelings he's tried to hide all these years, you don't hesitate and take the plunge. the way he stretches your walls has you gasping outloud, having to rock your hips back and forth slightly to try and help the stretch.
"ah...oh yeah, y/n, fuck you're so tight." heeseung's hands are on your waist but his eyes are on your chest. with a quick eyeroll you grab his hands and place them where his eyes were.
"you don't know how many times i've dreamed of this happening," he whispers.
with a laugh you reply with a simple, "me too," your stomach fluttering when you see the shocked look on his face. heeseung opens his mouth to say something, but you're fully sheathed on him now and immediately put your hand on his chest to stable you as you grind your hips against his crotch. all that comes out of heeseung's mouth for the next few moments is a slough of swear words, praises, and "i can't believe we've never done this before"'s. and once he's coming undone underneath you all he can ask is if you can do that again exactly how you did it before, because fuck that felt so good and he needs it tattooed into his memory.

99 PROBLEMS | MV1
an: this is literally a crack fic, i had the idea when i was listening to 99 problems by jay-z and i was talking to @iamred-iamyellow please enjoy
summary: max never expected to one day have a 17 year old son. he didn't know he was a father. but now he's got to try and figure out how this nerd is his son. and also teach him how to live a little.
wc: 3.3k
Max never thought he’d be a single dad to a teenage boy, but shit happens.
One minute, he was in Monaco celebrating another podium win, champagne-soaked and grinning for the cameras. The next, there was a seventeen-year-old with his eyes and an attitude to match standing on his doorstep with a duffel bag. His name was Noah—“not ‘Dad,’ just Max”—and he wasn’t here to bond. No, Noah was here because apparently the universe thought karma would be funnier this way.
Max was on the balcony of his Monaco apartment replying to a few emails, the city’s lights flickering like a postcard behind him. He could hear Noah inside, rifling through the fridge, muttering complaints about the lack of “real food.”
“Hey, don’t knock the caviar!” Max called over his shoulder. “It’s got protein!”
“Caviar’s not dinner!” Noah fired back, slamming the fridge door.
Max smirked, chuckling a bit. The kid had a point. The life of a Formula One champion didn’t exactly prepare him for raising a teenager. Most days, it was all jet-setting, high-end sponsorships, and a new girl on his arm by sundown. It was messy, but it was his kind of messy. Now? Now, he had to figure out how to squeeze fatherhood in between the chaos.
“You seriously live like this?” Noah asked, stepping onto the balcony, holding up one of Max’s custom helmets. His tone wasn’t admiration—it was judgement.
“Like what?” Max said, not looking up from his phone.
“You know, like...this. Cars, women, parties. I mean, isn’t it exhausting?”
Max chuckled low, pocketing his phone. “Don’t have time to be tired.”
Noah raised an eyebrow. “Right. So, uh...where do I fit in this circus?”
Max turned, his smirk fading just enough to let a flicker of honesty show. “Haven’t figured that out yet. But we’ll make it work.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.” Max glanced back at the city below. “Now, go grab a drink or something. Just...not the champagne.”
And that’s how it started: the driver, his kid, and a life moving faster than either of them could control.
Max hadn’t had a conventional childhood and he could tell this kid did, well as conventional as it was to be dropped off at your dad who you’ve never met’s house a few weeks before your 18th birthday.
He thought that maybe while he was here he could teach him a few things, take him to a few races or something.
Max didn’t really know what to do.
The private gym was tucked into the corner of Max’s penthouse, all sleek machines and floor-to-ceiling mirrors. It was rarely used. Most of Max’s training happened at the Headquarters. or with his team, but Noah had been dragging his feet around the apartment all week, so Max figured a little sweat might do them both some good.
“Alright, kid,” Max said, tossing a pair of dumbbells onto the mat. “Let’s see if you’ve got anything in the tank. Ever lifted before?”
“Sure,” Noah replied, unimpressed. He sat down on the bench press, giving the machine a once-over like he was deciding whether or not to trust it.
Max crossed his arms, watching as Noah pushed through a few hesitant reps. “Not bad. But if that’s your warm-up, we’re in trouble.”
Noah glared, setting the weights down with a clink. “Not all of us need muscles for a living.”
Max laughed. “Touché. So, what do you do for fun then?”
“Fun?”
“Yeah, fun. You know, like hobbies, friends, maybe a girlfriend?”
Noah shrugged, grabbing a water bottle. “Not much. I play some video games, read, I guess. Nothing crazy.”
“Read?” Max frowned. “What, no parties? No sneaking out? You don’t go out?”
“Go out where?” Noah’s voice had that dry teenage edge to it. “I’m seventeen. I lived in America my whole life. You can’t even get into a bar without a fake ID there.”
Max froze mid-stretch, eyebrows shooting up. “Wait, wait, wait. You’re telling me you’ve never had a drink?”
Noah gave him a look like he’d just asked if the sky was blue. “No?”
Max stared at him, dumbfounded. “God. If only you knew what I was doing at your age when my dad had his back turned.”
Noah rolled his eyes. “Oh, let me guess. Clubbing in Paris. Drinking champagne with supermodels. Living the dream?”
“Belgium, but close,” Max said, leaning against the bench press. “Keg parties in the back of some guy’s trailer in Hasselt. Terrible beer, worse decisions, and my trainer yelling at me the next morning. Still, though. I can’t believe you’re seventeen and haven’t even had a sip.”
“I mean, it’s not a big deal,” Noah muttered.
“Not a big deal?” Max barked out a laugh. “Mate, by seventeen, I’d already figured out my go-to drink order. Vodka tonic. Not classy, but it got the job done.” He leaned in, his grin borderline mischievous. “We’ve got some work to do.”
Noah held up his hands, shaking his head. “Oh no. You’re not turning this into some wild ‘how to live’ project.”
Max raised his eyebrows, mock-innocent. “Hey, I’m just saying. Gotta live a little.”
“Maybe I don’t want to end up like you,” Noah shot back.
Max laughed again, but this time it came quieter, almost thoughtful. “Trust me, buddy. Nobody ends up like me. Now, come on. Two more sets, and then I’ll show you how to make a proper protein shake. Don’t worry—I won’t spike it.”
Noah snorted, shaking his head as he got back to work. It was just another morning, another disagreement, but Max couldn’t help feeling like they were inching closer to something real. Something like family.
By the end of the week, Noah was starting to think his dad was running some kind of unofficial competition.
On Monday, it was Marie. She was Monegasque, blonde, and talked like she was auditioning for a perfume ad. “Bonjour, mon cher,” she’d purred at Noah, ruffling his hair like he was ten. Max had barely noticed her leave, too busy scrolling his phone for his next big sponsorship deal.
Tuesday brought Yasmin, a Brazilian model who walked around the apartment in Max’s oversized shirt, pretending not to notice Noah glaring at her from the couch. She’d tried to make conversation, something about school and books, but Noah had just shrugged until she gave up.
By Wednesday, it was Clara, who had an annoying laugh and kept calling Max “babe” like they’d been married for years.
Thursday was a whirlwind—two girls, both of whom Max forgot to introduce. One of them waved awkwardly at Noah as they left, heels clicking on the tile floor.
By Friday, Noah wasn’t even fazed. He sat at the kitchen counter, eating cereal while Max brewed coffee, shirtless and looking entirely too smug for a guy running on five hours of sleep.
“How?” Noah finally said, his spoon clinking against the bowl.
Max glanced over his shoulder, eyebrows raised. “How what?”
“You know.” Noah waved vaguely toward the hallway where yet another pair of heels had disappeared moments ago. “Them. How do you...?”
Max chuckled, shaking his head as he poured his coffee. “Not that complicated.” He took a sip, leaning against the counter like he was about to deliver some ancient wisdom. “They like fast cars and big dreams. I’ve got both.”
Noah squinted at him. “Yeah, but don’t they know what they’re getting into? Like...you’re not exactly giving ‘dad of the year’ vibes.”
Max laughed, the sound echoing through the kitchen. “Oh, they know. Trust me, they all think they’re the one who’s gonna ‘change me.’” He set his mug down, smirking. “Spoiler alert: they’re not.”
Noah frowned, stirring his cereal. “Doesn’t it get old?”
“What?”
“The whole thing. Girls coming and going. Don’t you ever want...I don’t know, something normal?”
Max tilted his head, studying him for a second. “Normal’s overrated. Besides, why are you so interested? You got someone back in the States?”
Noah snorted. “No. Not unless you count my English teacher who used to give me extra credit just to stop talking in class.”
Max grinned, pushing off the counter. “Smart kid. Learn from me, though—don’t waste your charm on teachers. Save it for someone who can actually keep up.”
Noah rolled his eyes, standing up to put his bowl in the sink. “You’re insane.”
“And yet,” Max said, raising his coffee in a mock toast, “I’m still your dad. Crazy how that works.”
Noah shook his head, walking out of the kitchen. But as he headed toward his room, he caught himself smirking. Max was a mess—there was no denying that. But, annoyingly, there was something kind of fascinating about watching him pull it off.
He had to give him some respect. Three time world champion but he lived his life like an unbothered bachelor that didn’t have a multi-million contract under his belt.
Two days later, Max was standing in front of his wardrobe, trying to decide between a black shirt and a white graphic tee. He ended up tossing the black top onto the bed, shrugging into the white tee. His phone buzzed on the nightstand—a message from the group chat reminding him that their table was already reserved at Jimmy’s.
Max grabbed his watch and headed toward the living room, adjusting it as he walked. Noah was sprawled on the couch, scrolling his phone with the kind of disinterested focus only teenagers could pull off.
“You wanna come?” Max asked casually, pulling his car keys from the counter.
Noah didn’t even look up. “I’m seventeen.”
Max leaned against the doorway, a smirk tugging at his lips. “And I’m Max Verstappen.”
Noah gave him a deadpan look. “Yeah, that’s not how laws work.”
Max stepped into the room, tossing his keys in the air and catching them with one hand. “Relax, kid. You’re with me. No one’s checking your ID.” He raised an eyebrow, adding, “Unless you want to stay here and eat more cereal while I’m out having the time of my life.”
Noah hesitated, sitting up slightly. “What, and hang out with you and your harem of club girls? Hard pass.”
Max grinned, crossing his arms. “It’s not just girls. My friends will be there. Good music, good drinks, a little chaos. You could use some chaos.”
Noah snorted. “I don’t think I fit your ‘chaos’ aesthetic.”
Max walked over and clapped a hand on his shoulder. “That’s the beauty of it. You don’t have to fit. You just show up, keep your head up, and let the good times come to you. Trust me, kid—it’s not rocket science.”
Noah looked at him, torn between scepticism and curiosity. “And if I hate it?”
“Then you call it a night, and we’ll come back. No harm, no foul.” Max shrugged. “But at least you’ll know what you’re missing.”
Noah sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Fine. But if anyone tries to buy me a drink, I’m out.”
“Deal.” Max grinned, slapping him on the back. “Now, go change. You’re not wearing that.” He gestured vaguely at Noah’s hoodie and sweatpants.
“What’s wrong with this?”
“It’s not wrong; it’s tragic. Go put on something that says, ‘I’m seventeen, but I could still be cooler than you.’”
Noah rolled his eyes but got up and headed toward his room. Max leaned back against the couch, chuckling to himself. This was either going to be a disaster or the most fun he’d had in weeks.
Fifteen minutes later, Noah emerged in dark jeans and a plain black t-shirt. It wasn’t flashy, but it worked.
Max whistled. “There you go. Almost looks like you know what you’re doing.”
“Don’t push it,” Noah muttered, grabbing his jacket.
“Alright, kid,” Max said, swinging an arm around his shoulders as they headed for the elevator. “Welcome to the good life. Try to keep up.”
Jimmy’z was everything Noah expected and nothing he was prepared for. The place was loud, packed, and drenched in neon lights that pulsed to the bass of some remix he didn’t recognise. Max walked in like he owned it, breezing past the bouncers and slapping hands with a few familiar faces on his way to their table.
The VIP section was cordoned off with velvet ropes and framed by floor-to-ceiling windows that looked out over the city. A couple of Max’s friends were already there, leaning back with drinks in hand, laughing at some story one of them was telling.
Max clapped a hand on Lando's shoulder, said something about ordering another round, and then turned to Noah with a grin. “Alright, kid. First drink’s on me.”
“I thought I wasn’t supposed to drink?” Noah muttered, looking around nervously.
“You’re not supposed to get caught drinking,” Max corrected, flagging down a waitress. “Two rum and cokes. Easy on the rum for him,” he added with a wink.
Noah sat awkwardly, trying to ignore the curious glances from Max’s friends. When the drinks came, Max slid one across the table. “Here. Cheers.”
Noah picked up the glass and took a cautious sip, immediately grimacing. “This tastes like gasoline.”
Max burst out laughing, nearly spilling his own drink. “Yeah, it’s not exactly a milkshake, but you’ll get used to it.”
Noah frowned but kept sipping, each drink slightly less terrible than the last. By the time the glass was empty, he didn’t hate it—but he definitely wasn’t in a hurry for another.
“Alright,” Max said, leaning back and draping an arm over the back of the booth. “Time for your next lesson.”
“Lesson?”
“Yeah.” Max grinned, nodding toward the dance floor where a group of girls was laughing and swaying to the music. “How to get a girl.”
Noah blinked at him. “I’m seventeen.”
“And you’re eighteen in three weeks,” Max shot back, smirking.
Noah raised an eyebrow. “How do you even know that?”
Max sipped his drink, looking almost offended. “I pay attention. I’m not that bad of a father, you know.”
Noah snorted. “Debatable.”
“Hey, come on,” Max said, leaning forward and pointing at him with his glass. “I’ve got three weeks to turn you into someone who doesn’t spend prom night sitting in the corner playing Angry Birds. Let me work my magic.”
“I didn’t go to prom,” Noah mumbled.
“Exactly my point.” Max gestured to the dance floor. “Now, watch and learn.”
Noah shook his head, but he couldn’t help smirking. Watching Max in his element was like watching a lion stalk the savanna. Ridiculous, over-the-top, and somehow annoyingly effective.
Noah leaned back in the plush booth, his gaze flicking nervously between the drink in his hand and the dance floor. “This feels illegal,” he muttered under his breath.
Max, already halfway through his second rum and coke, let out a loud laugh that turned a few heads. “Illegal? We’re in Monaco.” He gestured broadly at the glittering club around them, as if the name alone erased all laws. “The girls here don’t care how old you are, as long as you’re pretty enough.”
Noah raised an eyebrow. “And what if I’m not?”
Max leaned forward, smirking. “You’re my son, so of course you are. Trust me, kid, you’ve got the genes. Now, you just need the confidence to back it up.”
Noah rolled his eyes but couldn’t help the faint flush creeping up his neck. “Yeah, sure. Because confidence is something you can just magically summon.”
“Exactly,” Max said, snapping his fingers like it was that simple. “It’s all in the attitude. Look, you don’t need to be the smartest or the funniest guy in the room. You just need to act like you know something they don’t. Makes them curious. Curiosity’s half the battle.”
Noah stared at him, unimpressed. “That’s the dumbest advice I’ve ever heard.”
Max grinned, sitting back and gesturing to the waitress for another round. “And yet, here I am. Multi-millionaire. World champion. Living proof it works.”
“Yeah, but you’re—” Noah hesitated, then gestured vaguely at Max’s whole presence. “You.”
“Exactly. And you’re half me. Which means you’ve already got a head start.” Max leaned in, lowering his voice like he was letting Noah in on a secret. “Here’s the trick: don’t overthink it. If you go out there looking like you’ve got something to prove, you’ll scare ‘em off. Just...be cool.”
“Cool,” Noah repeated, deadpan. “Got it. Thanks for the groundbreaking advice.”
Max smirked, pushing his chair back and standing up. “Fine. Don’t believe me. But if I come back with two numbers before you even finish that drink, you’re buying me breakfast tomorrow.”
Noah shook his head as Max strolled off toward the dance floor, impossibly confident and infuriatingly charismatic. It was hard not to admire it, even if it made him feel like an awkward kid in comparison.
He stared down at his empty glass, debating whether to order another drink or just leave, when a girl about his age walked past and glanced his way. She gave him a small smile, and Noah froze, his heart racing.
Max’s words echoed in his head. “Just act like you know something they don’t.”
Noah took a deep breath, set his empty glass on the table, and stood up. His palms felt clammy, and every nerve in his body screamed at him to sit back down. But then he caught Max watching from the floor with an infuriating smirk before turning to whichever woman he was talking to this time.
Don’t overthink it, Noah reminded himself. Just be cool.
The girl was standing near the edge of the dance floor with a friend, laughing at something on her phone. She looked up as he approached, her eyes flicking over him in curiosity.
“Hey,” Noah said, trying to sound casual. “You looked like you needed saving from a bad joke.”
She raised an eyebrow, amused. “Oh? And you’re the knight in shining armour?”
“Something like that,” Noah said, stuffing his hands into his pockets to keep from fidgeting. “Or at least I’m not the guy who made you laugh like that.”
Her smile widened, and her friend nudged her playfully before disappearing toward the bar. “Smooth,” she said, tilting her head. “Do you use that line often?”
“First time, actually,” Noah admitted, his lips twitching into a nervous grin.
The honesty seemed to win her over. They started talking—light, easy banter—and before Noah knew it, she was laughing at something he’d said about his dad being a “professional bad influence.”
From the booth, Max had a clear view of the whole thing. He nudged Lando, grinning like a proud idiot. “Lan, look!” He pointed toward the dance floor. “The son of a bitch did it!”
Lando squinted, then let out a low whistle. “Damn. Didn’t think he had it in him.”
Max chuckled, crossing his arms as he leaned back in his seat. “He’s my kid. Of course he’s got it in him.”
Noah returned to the table a while later, looking flushed and slightly dishevelled. His lips were swollen, and there was a faint lipstick smudge on his cheek.
Max raised his glass in a mock toast. “Atta boy!”
Noah slid into the booth, trying to suppress a grin. “Don’t make it a thing.”
“Oh, it’s already a thing,” Max said, slapping him on the back. “You’re officially part of the club now.”
Lando smirked. “Better keep an eye on him, Max. He’s almost got more potential than you.”
“Potential? He’s a damn prodigy,” Max joked, laughing. “First drink, first girl, all in one night. Kid’s got a better batting average than I did at his age.”
Noah rolled his eyes, but he couldn’t help smiling. As much as his dad’s teasing drove him crazy, there was something undeniably cool about seeing Max so proud.
“Alright,” Max said, clapping his hands together. “Now that you’ve got your feet wet, let’s see if you can do it again.”
Noah shook his head, laughing. “Not a chance. One’s enough for tonight.”
“Fair enough,” Max said, leaning back with a satisfied grin. “But just so you know—you’ve officially graduated from boring.”
For once, Noah didn’t argue.
the end.

After MAMA awards I'M VERY PROUD OF MY BOYS and seeing Woozi crying, nooooo my mannnnn
So can I request Woozi or anyone after awards, all members celebrating with their partners hehe LOVE YOUUU!!!
PLEASE PLEASE 🛐🛐
🍑 i will really live the rest of my life repaying you.
you don't see seungcheol until the next day. such is the life of the general leader, it seems— the never-ending heralding, the non-stop worrying. he deals with his boys, first, then the fans, then the staff. but once that's all done, he's at your front door, collapsing into your arms before he's even past through the entryway. it doesn't matter how many awards its been. he is still overwhelmed by it every single time, and you are a soft place to land. he comes home to you and whispers the sweetest nothings in your hair. i'm so proud of them and they did so well and they're so happy. as he holds you tight— like you're the only thing keeping him upright— it's your turn to let him hear those words. i'm so proud of you. you did so well. you get to be happy, too.
the jeonghan on the other end of the video call has been quiet for the most part of the past half-hour. you'd be more worried if you hadn't already predicted where his solemness was coming from. "hannie? still with me?" you prompt gently, and he finally tears his gaze away from the ceiling to look back at you. "yeah. yeah, i'm with you," he answers. a beat. there are some things you no longer have to say out loud. how he wishes he was there. how he misses them and tries not to let it show. instead, you give him a reminder that's quiet and firm. "this is yours, too," you say. this award. this moment. these boys. all still his. there's a ghost of a smile on his face as he mumbles, "right. of course. how could i forget."
joshua likes keeping lists. a running one he has with you is that of gratitude, where the two of you try to end each day with acknowledgements of what you're grateful for. you're expecting a whole essay for him after tonight. he surprises you by keeping it short, sweet, and straight to the point. in no particular order, he types out into your shared note. music, the boys, you. hours later, he adds a footnote like it'd occurred to him as an afterthought: i'm always grateful for those three, but especially so today.
"look at them!" jun shrieks. his video call pixelates, either from spotty connection or his sudden burst of enthusiasm. you have half a mind to warn him that he may get a noise complaint again, but this time it'd be completely warranted. he's positively vibrating with excitement, his eyes glued to the livestream of his twelve brothers ascending the stage for their second award of the night. "look at them," he repeats, and this time his voice is more reverent than anything. you could comply, could do as he's asking, but your eyes are trained elsewhere. and look at you, too, you want to say. look at you and all that you've done to get this far.
even though it's been an exceptionally long day, soonyoung comes home brimming with adrenaline. he does dance routines in your living room. he jogs around your block until you beg him to just come back. he sings in the shower before collapsing onto the bed next to you, where he suddenly becomes boneless. the glow of pride stays even as the exhaustion hits. he pulls you against him and cuddles right into you. to soonyoung, this is as good as any trophy: the peace that comes with falling asleep next to you.
wonwoo has no destination in mind. he has a car with a full tank, and a playlist of all his favorite songs, and you in the passenger seat. that's more than enough. you pass through tunnels with warm lighting; expressways where he keeps the windows down so the wind will whip at your hair. occasionally, you'll stop to grab a snack or take a photo of something interesting on the side of the street. after hours of just going in circles, he'll ask, "should we keep driving?" even though he knows you'd never deny him this. this. his little celebration in the form of getting 'lost' with you.
nobody hears from jihoon for the next couple of days. the managers are worried, but the boys all just shake their heads and say that he's in good hands. which means: he's wherever you are. the two of you don't talk about his speech, about his public breakdown, because both things make him want to hide forever. instead— he sleeps in. he watches movies from months ago that he promised he'd get to. the two of you go on walks at night, and have breakfast at lunch time. the vicious cycle will soon have to begin again. jihoon knows that. but for a few, precious moments, his heart is not a heavy burden because it's safe and sound in your capable hands.
seokmin takes you on the textbook definition of your perfect date. a shopping spree? here's his black card. an amusement park? he'll rent out lotte world for the day, if he must. you're understandably baffled. he's the one who just won big, and yet you're the one being treated like royalty. try to resist and he'll only push back on you. seokmin already spoils you enough as is, but this is just a little more over-the-top than the day-to-day stuff. at the end of it all, his rationale is as sweet as it gets. "you keep me going," he tells you. "and so you deserve just as much credit as i do."
mingyu has always liked to celebrate with a meal. you'd expected his usual fare of some swanky restaurant or high-end café, but, this time, he asks for only free reign of your kitchen. he props his phone up against the salt shaker and pulls up a youtube video before flashing you his best 'just-trust-me' grin. your trust is not misplaced; the two of you do manage to bake the celebratory cake, though whether it's any good is an entirely different story. the end result doesn't matter as much as the process. mingyu is happiest about the flour marks on your cheeks, about the kisses he steals while you whisk eggs. it's not a birthday cake, but you light up a candle for him anyway. just for the hell of it. "make a wish," you tease. he's looking straight at you as he blows at the flame.
minghao asks for a beach day. the two of you set out for the nearest one. maybe the sand is a bit rocky; the shore, lacking in shells. he doesn't care. he only seeks out the sun beating on his back, the saltwater clinging to his skin, the first punch of air after emerging from the water. as the stolen weekend winds to a close, the two of you sit at the point where the water lap at your toes. neither of you have to speak. here, minghao lets the tide wash away the ache of homesickness. here, minghao redefines 'home' as a future with the boys of his youth, with the music that is as constant as the waves— and with you, of course.
the ferry ride to jeju is about four or so hours long, but seungkwan doesn't mind. there's just something so right about getting on the first vessel that will take him back where he has family waiting with a homecooked meal and a play-by-play of the award show. besides, the ferry means having four hours of uninterrupted leisure time with you. the pair of you literally have nowhere else to be except this boat and this point in time, which seungkwan is a little guilty to be so happy about. he's a glutton for your time and attention, and these ferry rides— these trips home— remind him just how much he likes taking the scenic route.
vernon treats it almost like it's just another day. almost. you're thrown off by his initial nonchalance, by the lack of utter fanfare in the way he asks you out to lunch and the two of you barely discuss the recent accolades. when you prompt him about it, you realize it's not because of arrogance or ignorance. "we're just doing what we always do," he says with an expression of mild confusion. winning?, you almost inquire half-jokingly, but that's only part of it. he elaborates, "we were just ourselves, y'know?"
when chan suggests a rage room, you're understandably confused. the wrath-based activity doesn't seem like the most optimal celebration, but you're not about to cramp his style. the two of you queue the angriest songs known to man before smashing some defunct appliances and throwing empty bottles against a wall. once your time is up, chan looks at you with that familiar spark of fire in his eyes. that dedication you fell in love with, that passion that has always burned bright. "again?" he asks, and you know it's not just the rage room that he's asking for.

first ask ever, go you INDEED! thanks for the prompt, and for being here with me! <3
Regulus Black x Potter!reader who he falls asleep on [627 words]
CW: fem!reader, pranking, siblings, brief mention of Black family causing anxiety, fluff
Regulus had, admittedly, not been sleeping all that well leading up to the winter holidays.
For better or for worse, Sirius had convinced him to rip the plaster off and join him at the Potter’s, if not permanently, then at least for the Christmas break.
First, he hadn’t been sleeping well due to the stress of having to potentially return home for the holidays, then he hadn’t been sleeping well due to the stress of having to find some excuse that his parents would find believable to remain at school over the holidays, then he hadn’t been sleeping well due to the stress of how his parents might react to the news of him attending the Potter’s for the holidays, then he hadn’t been sleeping well due to the stress of having not gotten a response from them at all (the devil you know, and all that).
And finally, he hadn’t been sleeping well due to the stress of now having to celebrate the holidays with the Potter’s. Pointedly, perhaps, with you.
So when he startled awake to the sound of the train compartment door closing - catching the tail end of his brother and his friends disappearing down the train’s corridors - to find himself having fallen asleep on your shoulder of all places, he was more than a little bit mortified.
“Oh Merlin, did I fall asleep on you!?” He asked as he slid to the very opposite side of the bench to put some clearly well needed space between the two of you.
“Just a little, it’s alright.” You offered with a shrug as you refused to look up from the book in your hand, though Regulus noted you take the opportunity to reposition to a more comfortable spot now that you wouldn’t risk waking him up.
“M’so sorry.” He mumbled into his hands as he tried to wipe the residual lethargy from his face; an anxious, crackling energy bubbling from his chest to his fingertips. “I’ve not been sleeping well; this is so embarrassing.”
“It’s not embarrassing,” you chuckled kindly, “you’re obviously tired, we’ve got a long train ride, might as well sleep, yeah?”
You smiled gently, perhaps even shyly at him, before turning your face back to your book, though you didn’t appear to actually be reading it.
“Where’d our brother’s go?” He asked after a few beats of silence; you looked up then, as if only now realising the compartment was empty.
“Oh, erm. I think they wanted to pull one last prank of the year; wanted to go out with a-”
But the end of your sentence was cut off by a loud bang that shook the seats beneath you two, followed by some groaning, shrieking, and cackling.
You and Regulus shared a soft, breathy snicker of your own.
“You didn’t feel like joining them?” He queried, quite certain he wasn’t mistaken when he noticed you flush.
“Erm, no; I was quite alright here.”
Your brother’s came crashing into the compartment then with Remus and Peter on their heels; breathless, laughing, and covered in a small dusting of red and green glitter.
“That was a good one, Trouble.” Sirius proclaimed as he took a sloppy seat across from you. “Can’t believe you opted to sit here like Reggie’s personal glorified pillow instead of seeing it through.”
“Don’t tease her.” Remus chided quietly; likely quiet enough that you hadn’t heard, but Regulus had.
“So,” Regulus drawled then, sharing a conspiratorial look with you. “I have this to look forward to all break?”
Sirius scoffed in offence. “You should be so lucky, baby brother.”
“Don’t worry,” you murmured quietly, “leaves us plenty of time to make them pay.”
Regulus couldn’t help but wonder if - just maybe - holiday’s at the Potter’s wouldn’t be so bad.

loser!bf!Rafe getting jealous after he discovers you have another man's name as your phone password. contains soft rafe, jealousy & tooth rotting fluff, wc; 747 a/n this is a repost oops
“Hey, baby, can I borrow your phone for a moment?” Your boyfriend’s voice erupted through your ears, earning your attention as you adjusted the falsies around your eye, too accompanied with the action to acknowledge the boy hovering behind you, staring at you through the reflection of the mirror.
“Mhm,” you cooed, lips parting with concentration. “It’s on the nightstand.” The boy nodded, instantly retrieving your phone from your side of the bed, approaching you once again, this time with the intention of unlocking it. He adjusted the device in front of your face, in an attempt to use face ID, his plan backfiring when your phone lit with the ‘password required’ screen.
“What’s your password?” He clicked his teeth, leaning his weight against the desk, his figure filling the majority of your view. His fingers soared over the screen, while he patiently waited for you to finish applying your lashes.
“Luvdrew,” you replied, causing the boy to come to a halt, his expression twisting with puzzlement. “But instead of the e, type in a three.”
“Luvdrew?” He questioned, ridiculed by your response. “Who the fuck is Drew?” Your gaze shifted back to bim, dumbfounded by the bitterness seeping through his voice, confused by the sudden change in his tone.
“Oh, Drew Starkey,” you continued, flashing him a smile, oblivious to how casual you were making the conversation seem, upsetting Rafe even more. “You’ve never heard of him? He used to be my celebrity crush.”
“And you have him as your password? What, you think about him every time you unlock your phone?” His face fumed with annoyance, not failing to hide it as he clicked his teeth, tossing your phone back on the desk. “I don’t even want to use your phone anymore, let that Drew guy use it instead.”
“What?!” You started, a soft chuckle knocking out of your chest, fully abandoning your makeup on the desk, attention fixing on Rafe, whose face expressed nothing but sulkiness. “Are you jealous?!”
“No!” He spat back, eyebrows curling with frustration. “Why would I be jealous because you have another man’s name as your password, when you clearly have a boyfriend?!”
“You are jealous.” You snickered, getting up from your seat. You leveled your face with Rafe’s, tilting his head with a hand to his chin. He avoided your gaze, brushing off the touch as he seized his head down in his lap, not giving in to your coy gesture. “Look at me, I’m sorry! I’ve had it for a while, before we even dated, I must’ve forgotten to change it. I’m sorry! He’s a literal celebrity, baby.”
“Whatever,” he scoffed, resisting the hand engulfing the curve of his jaw. “Go be with Drew, maybe he’ll treat you better, since I’m not good enough for you.”
“Rafe!” You shot back, surprised by his stubborn attitude. “Why are you acting like this, I’m sorry.” You pecked the corner of his lips, mimicking your action when he angled his head to the side, a silent invitation for you to continue kissing him. You littered open-mouthed kisses to his mouth, chest swelling with pride when the latter smiled, pressing his lips into a thin line to hold himself back from further giving into your compelling. “There you go, don’t sulk with me, you know I love you.”
“You’re ridiculous.” He mumbled in between kisses, lingering for a moment when you captured his lips in between your own, his moving over yours in an attempt to deepen it. His hands sneaked around your waist, sandwiching you with his legs to keep you in place. “I love you too, I guess.”
“You guess?” You shrugged, “I’ll change my password to luvrafe, there, are you happy?” You muttered, leaning your head back when Rafe chased after your lips, desperate to kiss you.
“Yeah, yeah.” He rolled his eyes, hesitating to mutter his next statement. “So… is that Drew guy more attractive than me?”
“No,” you shook your head, “No one is more attractive than you, you’re the most handsome man on earth.”
“Oh?” He cocked his head to the side, amused by your response, seeking more of your attention. “What else?”
“Oh, don't get cocky with me.” You teased, grinning from ear to ear. You tilted your head to the side, your next sentence an attempt to rile him up. “You know, I might’ve exaggerated, Drew’s an attractive g–”
“Fuck off!” He interrupted your sentence before you could further speak. “I’m done with you.”

I know it's a day early but I have to put it out now
Friends AU: After team RWBY throws a big Halloween/Birthday Party that involves all of Atlas and part of Mantle, how does the gang react to finding out Jaune never went to the party because he never got an invite even though Team RWBY all swear they invited him?
One Invitation Short
Ruby: WHOOO!
Ruby: It's my birthday~!
Nora: Let's fucking party!
Yang: Happy birthday sis!
Blake: Halloween birthday party! WHOO!
Ren: Happy birthday, Ruby.
Weiss: Congratulations, Ruby.
Penny: This is my first friends birthday party I've ever attended.
Oscar: Mine too.
Yang: Then we'll have to make sure this is one hell of a party!
Ren: But, not too big of a party. The janitorial staff haven't been looking at us kindly since the soda bottle rocket incident...
Weiss: Hey don't look at me like that. That was totally their fault!
Nora: Hey, it was an accident!
Weiss: You got pink soda all over me!
Ruby: We said we were sorry!
Weiss: My clothes are still in the drycleaners getting all the pink out of my clothes!
Yang: I have some photos of her all drenched in cream soda, wanna see?
Blake: Oh please!
Weiss: Noooo!
Blake: HA! Oh you look like a princess from a kids book in a pink dress!
Yang: Pfft! Oh shit, she does!
Weiss: guys?!
Ruby: Don't worry, Weiss, you'll always be beautiful even in pink!
Weiss: Shut up...
Nora: Don't be a downer guys! Let's eat some cake, and celebrate!
Yang: Yeah! I want some cake!
Oscar: What kind of cake is it?
Ren: Cookies, and cream.
Oscar: I've never had that before.
Weiss: Me either, it sounds nice.
Yang: Alright everyone around the table so we can sing happy birthday, and eat the cake.
Nora: Cake!
Blake: Okay.
Ruby: I'm so excited.
Yang: Okay, birthday girl is in the main seat... Penny... Weiss, Blake... Nora, and Ren... Oscar, and Penny have a seat. And, we're just waiting on you, Ja...?
Yang: ...?
Yang: Wait...? Where's, Jaune?
Weiss: He's here... right?
Nora: Y-You guys invited him... right?
Yang: Well... I was going to tell him, but I got dragged away on a mission, so I asked, Blake to do it.
Blake: I remember, Yang asked me to tell him. And, I was going to tell him! but, then I saw that there was this sushi restaurant... and, I haven't had sushi in so long... A-And, I heard, Mantle sushi is really well know for how good it is... and... s-sushi...
Yang: Uhh, Blake...? Blake? (Snap, Snap, Snap!) Hey, stay with us!
Blake: Sorry! I went to the sushi restaurant, and I sent a message to, Weiss to have her tell him instead.
Weiss: I remember that call; I was going to complain to, Blake about dumping her responsibility on me. But, she sounded like a junkie needing her fix when she was talking about that sushi restaurant.
Yang: That...! That sounds true...
Ruby: Yeah, she enters this weird trance when it comes to sushi...
Nora: It rather scary really...
Weiss: Well I decided to tell, Jaune so, Blake could get her... fix... And, I was about to tell him...! And, then the soda bottle incident happened...?!
Nora: Sorry...
Weiss: And, you all know what happened... So, while I went to get changed, and have a shower. So I asked, Ruby to do instead.
Ruby: And, I did!
Nora: If you did, then why isn't, Jaune here?
Ruby: I don't know?! I went to him during dinner, we chatted about out missions, and then I handed him this handmade invitation letter!
Weiss: A handmade invitation?
Ruby: Yes!
Weiss: That same letter that's in your hands, right now...?
Ruby: Ya, this the same lett...?!
Ruby: Oh...?
Ruby: Oh shoot...
Nora: So... you all weren't able to tell, Jaune about the party because you were distracted by one thing, or another... And, when you finally got to him, you didn't hand him the invitation?!
Ruby: Sorry...
Yang: I got called away...
Blake Sushiiiiiiiii~!
Weiss: I'm not apologizing...
Nora: Ohh... Penny?!
Penny: Yes, Friend Nora?
Nora: D-Did you send, Jaune a message?
Penny: Let me check.
Penny: ...
Penny: I do not have, Jaune Arc in my list of contacts...? Odd... I must preform a self-diagnostic...
Penny: Scanning...
Penny: System corruption located... Fixing.
Penny: Fixed! The contact information of one, Jaune Arc has been found!
Penny: I shall contact him, and hopefully, Friend Jaune will come join us soon!
Nora: Awesome!
Weiss: Oh thank goodness, hopefully, Jaune will join us soon.
Yang: Yes, it wouldn't be a party without my best blond pal!
Ruby: Hopefully he will come here soon, and we can continue the party, and...
Penny: What...?!
Yang: Is... is something wrong, Penny?
Penny: Jaune just replied to my invitation... He said, 'No thank you...'
Nora: What?!
Ruby: Jaune... rejected the invitation... to... to my birthday party...?
Penny: I'm afraid so...
Ruby: But... why...?
Penny: I... I don't know...
Ruby: But...?!
Penny: I'm sorry, Ruby.
Ruby: ...
Ruby: I see...
Ren: We did it again... we failed our friend...
Nora: What are you talking about, Ren...? We're not, Jaune's friend... We never were...
RWBYNPRP: ...
Ruby: ...
Ruby: FUCK!!!
~~~
Winter: Who was that?
Jaune: No one important... Sorry about that interruption, Sir.
Ironwood: That's alright, Mr. Arc. Now then, tell me what is it that you wanted to talk about?
Jaune: Winter made me an offer the other day, and I wanted to know, what would my duties be if I accepted her offer, and became, a Specialist.
Joel Miller│520-some words│18+
a drabble gift for @macfrog 🤍 tags: fluff, angst/comfort, pregnancy prompt: me wanting to write Pixel Papi for my froggy friend Max I've been in the mood to write some drabbles as an early birthday celebration. If you are an avid reader of mine and would like your own 500ish word drabble, feel free to send me a DM to discuss :)
“I’m scared.”
It’s past everyone’s bedtime, dark beyond the twinkling Christmas lights wrapped around the balcony that Joel put up while I fogged up the glass. Out there, freezing in his leather coat, raising his eyebrows.
Here?
A little more to the left, I waved.
The dog huffs in his sleep, I can hear him from downstairs, along with the crackling from the fireplace. Joel leans back against the counter with his arms folded, brows pulling together, and his shoulder takes up half the mirror behind him. The lights that glow in strips down its sides reflect off the gold on his left hand. The sight of it still makes my heart trip.
He smiles a little, unfolding his arms to reach out and pull me closer, while my toothbrush hangs limply in my hand, toothpaste in the other, both held with a pathetically loose grip he chuckles at when he glances down.
“Nothin’ to be afraid of, sweetheart,” he says, lifting his hand to push my hair over my shoulder, and then slide his palm along the side of my neck. His thumb brushes slowly along the edge of my jaw, and his skin is rough but his touch is gentle. I want to wallow, I don’t want to admit that his voice soothes me, husky as it is, the tired tone of it at the end of the night.
“But—” I try to protest, but he shuts me up just as fast while he straightens up from the counter, and right as I crane my neck to look up at him, into his eyes, little kicks push against the front of his t-shirt.
“I know,” he whispers, and his lips twitch at those tiny little fluttery kicks, and I can tell he’s trying his hardest to keep it together, to calm me with two hands holding my face. “But I'll be there.”
I pout at him, rolling my eyes, not wanting to believe his words that I know are nothing but the pure truth. More kicks bulge the worn-soft fabric of my own shirt when I look at his face again, when I look at the gray threads in his beard. It’s thick and bristly, a little rough, just like he is, not soft like the room at the end of the hall, where everything is fluffy and light, with butterflies all over.
There’s rarely anything soft about Joel at all, aside from his tone when he says, with his hands on the sides of my belly, “And she can't wait to meet you.”
So I concede, as I always do, letting my head fall to his chest while he wraps his arms around my shoulders. “Why did you do this to me?” I mumble into him, before I breathe in his scent, soothed by that too, embraced in his heat.
And he chuckles again, “Couldn't help myself,” lighthearted for the sake of my whining, when we both know that it was with the deepest love I have ever felt, that he made me his the way he did eight months ago.
“I hate you,” I mutter, flatly.
“Yeah, I know.” He breathes a laugh while he kisses the top of my head, and our little girl kicks again, harder. I think her daddy is the one she’s excited to meet. “S’alright.”
max wins his fourth championship
red bull turkey dinosaurs au, 1560 words
The moment Gianpiero sees Max’s crinkly-eyed smile and fluffy hair plastered across every TV screen in the paddock, he knows Max is going to drop. Maybe not yet, but soon. It’s obvious to GP now, especially because he’s had 4 years to start recognising the signs.
Max has dropped after every championship win. GP doesn’t know if it’s the relief of finally claiming the title, or Max allowing himself to celebrate exactly how he wants to, but either way, the team love celebrating with the little guy. There is nothing better than his unbridled childlike wonder and squawking giggles filling the garage after a win.
“You’re going with Max,” Christian tells him, he’s sat a couple of seats down on the pit wall – his headphones still on after congratulating Max.
“Am I?” GP asks, surprised. Max won the title, but he only placed P5 - he’s not going on the podium. Why would GP be going with Max?
“There’s a car ride to the Bellagio,” Christian says, then softens his eyes and insists. “You go with him in the car.”
He gets it now. Christian is worried Max will drop too soon, and if he does then GP needs to be there with him. He doesn’t need to be told twice.
The walk to Parc Ferme is chaos. There are bodies everywhere. The pit lane is full of people celebrating, mechanics trying to get to their cars, photographers, journalists, and paddock club members swarming. But he makes it through.
The moment he sees Max, he starts running. His driver has just won their fourth championship in a row and he can’t wait to throw his arms around Max. They knew the win was a possibility today, but GP didn’t think it would happen, especially not with a DIY rear wing. But Max always surprises him.
“You were amazing!” GP screams as he gets close enough for Max to hear him. He acts on impulse, maybe because Max looked so soft on the TV footage, or maybe because GP can feel how much Max needs a hug. Either way, before he knows it he’s bending down and lifting Max up like he does when Max is small, holding him so tightly as Max giggles loudly.
“You did exactly what you needed to, mate!” GP says, “You knew who our race was with and you made it happen.”
“Only P5,” Max says, shrugging, as GP puts his feet back on the floor. GP hates how hard Max is on himself sometimes, even with a championship win today Max considers P5 the fourth loser.
“It was the best we could have got from the car today, Max.” GP affirms, “More than the car deserved actually.”
Max smiles, cheeks turning a little pink with the praise.
“My world champ!” GP says, refocusing Max on the huge positive. He puts a hand on Max’s shoulder and shakes him a little, so damn proud.
They’re ushered into an obnoxious Rolls Royce with fairy lights on the ceiling and far too many buttons that Max immediately starts pressing.
“Look,” Max says, shyly indicating what each button does.
“Yeah, cool isn’t it?” GP replies, going along with it. He suspects Max has already started to drop, usually Max isn’t so enamoured by buttons.
“Jeep, I won,” Max whispers. Maybe the microphones can pick it up and GP will have a new nickname in the paddock tomorrow, or maybe they can’t and the name Jeep will still be reserved for only Max to call him – it doesn’t matter either way.
GP looks over to Max, leans back in his seat, and smiles fondly, “Yes, you did. How are you feeling?”
“Thirsty,” Max says.
GP hands him his water bottle, filled with a fruity electrolyte drink, the long bendy straw is tied up so GP unties it and hands Max the mouthpiece.
“Tank you,” Max says through his slow sips.
The next few hours are full on, but GP stays close to Max, making sure Max doesn’t drop too deep. He ends up lingering just outside of the TV pen, following Max to each interview, and standing next to him in the group photo.
“Jeep,” Max whines, after the team has thoroughly drenched him in red bull and champagne. He’s tugging on the sleeve of GP’s jacket rather insistently, trying to drag him back towards the hospitality building.
GP knows immediately that Max has dropped fully, that he’s probably around 3 or 4 years old now mentally.
“What is it, Maxy?” GP asks gently, “What do you need?”
“Sticky.” Max flaps his arms. “No no no.”
GP nods, he leans down and scoops Max up onto his shoulder. A fireman’s carry. One that doesn’t look immediately strange if there are any photos of this online.
“Come on then, time to get the world champion in the shower!” GP laughs, running towards the building.
“No Jeep!” Max squeals, “No shower! BAFF!”
So, a bath it is then.
Rupert, almost magically, has the blow-up bathtub ready for Max when they get back to his driver’s room. There are lots of bubbles and three rubber ducks floating on the top, a daddy, a mummy, and a baby duck. Max’s little duck family travel to every race with them.
“Well done, buddy,” Rupert says when they barge into the room. He takes Max from GP, holding him on his hip and giving him a quick bounce. “We are so proud of you.”
Max nuzzles into Rupert’s neck.
“Rupy, baff,” Max points. “Sticky.”
GP and Rupert work together to get Max out of his clothes, he’s got so many layers on to combat the cold Vegas night. They both chucklenwhen they pull off one sock and then there’s another one right underneath.
Eventually, once Max is free of all clothes and socks, GP lifts him into the tub.
He splishes splashes, happily babbling to his ducks.
“You going to call Dan?” Rupert asks quietly. The elephant in every room. Daniel isn’t here. Nobody can blame him, either.
GP nods. “Yeah, I was waiting for a quiet moment alone. I think it would have been too much for Max earlier, he would have dropped deep in front of everyone, and that’s not fair to him or Daniel.”
“Yeah,” Rupert agrees. “I’ll leave you guys to it while you call him, don’t worry about the bath, I’ll clean up in here when you’re done.”
Rupert gives Maxy a quick kiss on the head, and Maxy brings baby duck up to peck at Rupert’s cheek. “Bye Rupy!”
It makes GP’s heart swell, how lovely and innocent this version of Max is. How sweet and kind. How delicate.
“Maxy, shall we call Daddy now?”
Maxy looks at him with huge, adoring blue eyes, nodding desperately.
“Ok,” GP says, calling Daniel on FaceTime.
He hands Max the phone as it’s ringing.
“Try not to drop my phone in the bath, Maxy,” GP tells him, “Do safe hands, okay?”
Max is just about to reply when Daniel answers, and the screen fills with his big smile.
“Daddy!” Maxy beams, flapping a little. Daniel probably can’t see him very well.
“Oh, baby,” Daniel says, eyes wet. “You’re small already?”
Max nods, bringing his baby duck up towards the camera to peck and kiss at the phone screen. GP has to look away, it’s so sweet that it feels like it should be a private moment between the two of them.
“You were so good today, baby.” Daniel sobs, “You won and I am so proud of you.”
Max nods again, happy, but GP can tell it’s not the championship he’s happy about now. He’s happy because he’s talking to his Daddy.
“When Daddy come?” Max pouts. “Daddy, what about my night night bottle? And story time?”
“I am coming, baby,” Daniel says, panning the camera around to show Max the airport lounge he is sitting in. “I am coming to give you your bottle and a really big cuddle. Is that okay?”
“Yes!” Max splashes in excitement, and GP worries about his phone.
“Okay, Daddy will be there in two hours,” Daniel tells him, “I’m coming, Maxy.”
GP watches as Max babbles and giggles on the phone to Daniel until eventually Max’s eyes droop a little and Daniel has to get on the plane.
“Alright Maxy, tell Daddy you’ll see him very soon,” GP says, prompting Max to start saying his goodbyes. “See you soon, Dan!”
“Bye Daddy,” Maxy yawns, “See you soon.”
Once GP has hung up the call, and his phone is back to safety on the dry desk, he begins to lift Max out of the bath.
Getting him dry is always a challenge. Max twists and turns to avoid the towel as it tickles his tummy, and he absolutely does not let anyone near his ears so GP has to be extra careful when drying his hair. But eventually, Max is dry and in his pyjamas, a footed onesie with dinosaurs on it.
“Very handsome,” GP says, kissing his forehead as he lifts Max up and onto his hip. “Shall we go and see the mechanics before Daddy gets here? I know they’ll want to see you.”
“Okay,” Max says softly, laying his head on GP’s shoulder.
Max is asleep before they are even out the door of his driver’s room, but that’s okay, GP has him.
Reference Post - "It's complicated."
Transcript + Bonus below the cut:
Megan: You really didn’t want a wedding?
Asher: C’mon, mom, you know that’s never been important to me. Our plan was always to elope. Megan: You don’t feel like you rushed it? Asher: [laughs] No, are you kidding me? We’ve been together for seven years; I’d hardly call that rushing. Megan: I just mean it was all so spontaneous. You didn’t want to enjoy being engaged for a while first?
Asher: Why? So you could spend the whole time trying to convince us not to elope? Megan: Hmpf. Asher: Mhm. Megan: Well, we should at least have a reception so you can celebrate with everyone.
Asher: You really can’t help yourself, can you? Megan: What’s wrong with wanting to celebrate with you? Asher: Nothing, but we can do that now, just us. The last thing Atlas wants is some big party where he’s the center of attention. I’m not going to do that to him. Megan: Alright, fine, I’ll drop it. Asher: Thank you.
Megan: You did pick a good one, though. Asher: [smiles] I did, didn’t I? Megan: Have you talked about having kids of your own? Asher: [sighs] A little bit, a few years ago. I don’t think it’s going to happen. Megan: Why not?
Asher: It’s complicated. Megan: Well, a lot can happen in a few years. Maybe it’s worth discussing again. You don’t have much longer to change your mind before it’s too late. Asher: I know. I just don’t want to pressure him, yknow. And I don’t want to go through that process unless it’s something we both really want.
Megan: Is it what you want? Asher: I mean, I’m okay without. Megan: That’s not what I asked. Asher: … Megan: I’ll support whatever you two decide, but I think it’d be worth a conversation. And sooner than later. Asher: [nods] Yeah. Okay.
Just wouldn't be a family gathering without Phoenix randomly smoking indoors... It still takes me by surprise every time lol I could fix it, but this is more fun
hi! i'd like to talk about losing. you don't have to read this if you don't want to, but i wanted to write it, and guess what, it's my blog. i just like this team a lot and i'm feeling a little maudlin about my guys and a little sick to fucking death of the shit i'm seeing all over kingdom come from 'fans'. so here we are.
So You Became A Fan Of A Living Legend But The Hockey Team Is Bad: a commentary.
look. this is not the most fun i've ever had watching hockey, and i'm quite sure a lot of people feel the same way. the penguins are bad this season! they were bad last season too, but there's something very special about the extent to which they are shit right now. and those are not fun games to watch.
but here's the thing: who cares.
like, idk. there's so much god damn negativity surrounding this team and its performance right now, and i'm guilty of contributing to it as well, because yeah of course i'd rather watch a team win in decisive fashion most nights. of course i'd rather dream about may and june and the stanley cup. of course i want to watch that happen again for my favorite players. like, duh.
but. it's probably not going to. not if these players get what they want, which is to play together on this team until they're ready to retire.
and you know what? that's fine. if they're fine with it, who on earth am i to not be?
i think we all have the same reaction when we see idiots online saying things like 'sid doesn't deserve this trade him to a contender'. and that's because we are smarter and more refined fans who understand that what sidney crosby DESERVES is to select how and where and when his career ends. is it on a team that sucks? then that means being here is more important to him than getting that fourth cup. staying with geno and kris and the penguins as a whole, never putting on another NHL logo, is more significant to him personally than another victory. and isn't that special? isn't that worth celebrating?
of course we know all of that because we're better at being fans than the uncles online who are writing weird fanfic in their heads. but. guess what that comes with:
losing.
and losing badly, in the case of this season.
i am here to tell you that sitting and bitching about it helps no one. right now, what we have to watch and celebrate is our favorite players still playing at a high level. they're still doing cool stuff on the ice. and they're doing it TOGETHER. this is what they wanted. so your options are either to hate it and sit in negativity about it each and every game, OR readjust your mindset and learn to enjoy what we have while we have it.
we are watching myth-making happen live. we are watching living legends play hockey. this is a privilege and an honor and it's not something most fanbases get EVER. and we have two! can you believe it?
there are things i would have rather seen done differently over the last couple of years. as far back as 2019 there were moves i disagreed with and changes that could have been made that perhaps could have extended their window. and of course the 2022 series against the rangers, that was a very good team that got hit by injuries at the absolute worst possible time, and probably that was their last chance as a core to compete. it's frustrating to watch that stuff happen when you have no control over it.
the pittsburgh penguins were high-end competitors and contenders for seventeen years straight. that's insane and unheard of in this league. they're not anymore. and the price you pay for almost two decades of dominance is...being bad. when you're competing you trade prospects and draft picks for win-now players. sometimes those work out, most of the time they don't. with the amount of winning this team has done, even the trades that didn't work were worth it, because it meant they were trying.
there are no fanbases who are going to feel bad for penguins fans right now. that's also why we're getting so much attention from the national media. people aren't used to this team being as bad as it is, and people like watching downfalls. that's fine. most of those fans have never watched their team win, and most of them never will. so if their joy is coming from sidney crosby's team being bad....well, love and light, you know?
and we shouldn't feel bad for ourselves either. this is what happens. this is how it goes. this is the price for the band staying together.
i dunno, guys. this is a disjointed rant. it's just so effing hard to be kicked in the nuts everywhere you go with unrelenting negativity. it's on twitter it's in the articles and yes, it's here too. but if you can't be a fan of a team when they're bad, then i'm sorry but you're not a fan of the team (or certain players), you're a fan of winning. and NO team wins all the time every year. that's not how sports work.
we are lucky. at least, i feel lucky! don't you? gosh, sidney crosby scored his 600th career goal tonight. evgeni malkin is over 500 goals on his career. can you believe that? it's amazing to watch.
and it's going to be over in less than two years. do we really want to waste it by wishcasting something that's not going to happen instead of enjoying what we DO have?
if the media bums you out, don't listen. don't read the articles. don't go on twitter. dry your tears on the stanley cup banners that sid and geno hung up—there are three to choose from!
33 & jake pls 😩
jake’s hands really have their own fandom 🫠
your mouth opens and closes, words failing to get past the bottom of your throat whenever you try to speak.
"oh c'mon, pretty. i know you can do it. just tell me what you want and it's yours." jake chuckles, his fingers trailing up and down your naked skin from your legs up to your shoulders and it's driving you crazy.
he thinks it's that simple but it couldn't be further than the truth. it doesn't help that his digits are on the colder side so every trace of you he touches he leaves behind a trail of goosebumps. your breath hitches in your throat when his pointer finger moves along the front of your esophagus. he's toying with you. and he's getting off by doing so.
"just tell me what you want," he whispers, a mischievous glint in his eyes with a smirk that's to die for.
"iwantyourfingersinme." you say all too fast, but not fast enough that he doesn't hear it or can't put two and two together.
but jake isn't gonna let you off that easily.
"huh? what's that? one more time but look me in the eyes and annunciate your words."
god he just loves being a smart ass in bed.
"i want your fingers in me."
"that's my good girl, wasn't so hard now, was it?" jake gives you a quick peck on your lips before plunging his veiny fingers deep in your cunt, wasting no time scissoring the digits inside you to give you that oh so needed stretch.
"mmm, yeah, fuck, jake how do- how do you do that?" you gasp out, clutching onto him to get some sort of stable ground. his pace is fast and consistent, only faltering to change his hand position. now, instead of scissoring, he has his hand out almost as if he was about to shake someone's hand. instead, he has his ring and middle finger deep inside you, moving his arm in small circles so his pointer finger can glide against your clit. all you can do is hopelessly clench on the two digits, relishing in the the way he curls them inside you ever so slightly, just enough to leave you on the edge of your seat.
"my baby should tell me what she wants more often. i'd do anything you ask me to do," he murmurs with a smile between open mouth kisses to your neck, flattening his tongue on the spot behind your ear that he knows makes your entire body tingle.
suddenly, jake's lustful eyes brighten for just a moment before darkening again. his free hand comes into your view as the other continues to coax your release out of you.
"like my fingers so much? then open." his pointer and middle finger prod at your lips until you comply. he presses his fingertips down on your tongue, impatiently telling you to react. you moan on his digits, hollowing your cheeks as your eyes roll back. swirling your tongue and feeling his veins in your mouth has you so ravenous you're almost scared you'll fully lose your mind.
with jake's fingers deep down your throat and deeper inside your cunt you come faster than you ever have before, begging him to do it again only moments after.
🎸 out of my mind ! 💿 track two: kowalski, status report
guitarist!ino x drummer!reader
summary: it's the annual battle of the bands at the fix, your college campus's iconic live music bar, and this year you're taking the stage as the drummer for indie rock group cursed technique. you know the competition is strong, but no part of you is ready for lead singer and guitarist takuma ino. you lock eyes at the edge of the stage, and something starts—something that might make you feel alive even more than the beat of the drums.
warnings: language, alcohol, mentions of drugs/drug dealing, toge bullying, unbearably cute dogs. || sfw. 9k words.
"I SHOULDN'T CUSS in this, right?"
It’s the day before the other four artists premiere their sets at Battle of the Bands, and you haven’t been home since six in the morning. You’re running on caffeine and spite and the pursuit of the story, parked on a high stool across the bar from the one and only Ieiri Shoko.
Toge leans on the counter beside you, opting to stand. He’s agreed to pay for the next snack run in return for you letting him be your partner. You both know you’re going to end up doing most of the writing, but you don’t really mind. Toge would if you asked him to, but you love this kind of thing in a way he just doesn’t. Plus, he’s better with a camera than you, and he’s taking photos tomorrow night.
You laugh, pulling out your phone to record. “You can say whatever you want as long as it’s honest. Be candid.”
“You might regret saying that!” Gojo calls from the back, and Shoko silences him with a glare.
“Are you coming or not?”
Gojo grins and finishes up whatever he’s putting away in the storage room, then strides out and leans his elbows on the counter.
“Do you mind if I record?” You point to the open voice memo app. “Makes it easier to quote you correctly.” You also just hate running interviews when you’re scribbling hand-written notes the whole time. You’d much rather have a genuine conversation and worry about the details later.
Shoko waves a hand airily. “No problem.”
“Absolutely,” Gojo says. “You can probably sell that for thousands.”
You set the phone on the counter, next to one of the tiny pumpkins scattered across it in celebration of the beginning of October. You and Toge bounce back and forth as you run through the standard start-of-interview checklist, having them spell out their names, getting their ages, hometowns, degrees, all that jazz. And then you launch into the stuff you really care about.
“So, you opened The Fix about ten years ago now, correct?”
Shoko nods. “Yeah, a little over two years after we graduated.”
You look at Gojo, whose eyes are even more alarmingly blue in the daylight. “And you were hired right away?”
“Utahime first, then me,” he nods. “Best for last, y’know.”
Shoko snorts. “We knew each other in school. I just took pity on him.” She smirks as Gojo’s jaw drops. “You can quote that.”
“Right, so all of you were friends in college. And you came together to start this place—what was the idea behind it?” Toge chimes in. “You said you studied nursing, Shoko?”
And you sit and listen as Shoko explains. Back in college, she was at the top of her class. By graduation, she’d been accepted to basically all the best med schools. She had her pick. She could do whatever she wanted. But she realized that what she wanted wasn’t that at all.
The medical field is brutal, she tells you. It’s all late nights and emotional burnout. People yelling at you, misplaced anger when you give them the bad news. Getting attached to people only to watch them waste away.
“I needed to get out before I got too far in. Maybe it was selfish,” she admits. “But I wasn’t cut out for it. I have so much admiration for medical professionals, but I couldn’t be one of them. A few clinicals and I was already feeling the consequences of giving too much of myself and getting nothing back.” She shrugs. “So I named it The Fix, as some kind of homage to the medical background. And I figured I’d just make sure it’s safe.”
Something sits heavy in her gaze as she stares at something behind you, middle distance, like she’s remembering.
“Why a college bar?” you ask, nudging the phone across the counter to pick up her voice better. “I mean, the extra security, thinking about underage drinking, dealing with a bunch of broke university kids. You could’ve just as easily opened a different bar in a more lucrative area. What was the appeal?”
She smiles crookedly. “Appeal. Well. My senior year, I was working in the local ER. And I saw… god. So many kids came in there needing their stomachs pumped, or kids who’d done laced drugs, gotten roofied, harassed, it was… I mean, it was a city university club scene. They weren’t safe. And I just felt like I needed to give them that. I couldn’t stay there as a nurse or a doctor. But I could do this.” She shrugs. “Sorry. That was probably way too much.”
“No,” you say quickly, smiling at her. “That was—that’s what we came here for. Shoko, that’s amazing. And it’s not selfish, taking care of yourself. You’re still here taking care of others.”
You don’t know Gojo well. Most of your stories about him come secondhand from Nobara, who knows him through Megumi. She paints the picture of a flamboyant, obnoxious bartender who’s more like a weird uncle to her than anything. From what you’ve seen of him at The Fix, you know this to be mostly accurate—he’s rarely serious, always taking flack from the students and giving it right back, ragging on Utahime, begging Shoko to play his playlist instead of Geto’s and knowing she’ll never cave. But now, as he listens intently to Shoko, you think you’re seeing another side of him.
There’s something troubled on his face as she speaks, like he wishes he could reach into the past and help. Like he regrets it.
The bar’s not the only thing that has a different side in the daylight.
“She’s right,” Gojo tells Shoko. It’s not much, but she looks up at him a bit surprised, something in her expression softening. A smile tugs at the corner of her mouth, not quite there but not quite not. “You’ve got a pretty big heart under all that RBF.” Shoko rolls her eyes, the moment over.
“What about you?” You turn to Gojo, nudging the phone his way. “Why a college bar?”
Shoko turns toward him, leaning a hip against the bar, just as curious as you are. “I think kids deserve to be kids,” he shrugs. “And if I—if we—can create a space where it’s actually safe for them to do that, it feels important.” His gaze shifts from you and Toge to the empty bar, the stage and floor and high-top tables that tomorrow will be full of music and laughter and students knowing they’re allowed to let loose here.
“There aren’t a lot of places out there that are exclusively for students,” he continues. “It’s this weird phase, college, where you’re figuring out who you are, trying to take risks without losing too much. It’s a lot. And you look at the crime rates, date rape drugs, theft, DUIs, in the city, and it’s just—this place gives them the room to learn and grow and mess around and have a good time without the danger of the… I don’t know. The outside world. Does that make sense?”
He drums his fingers on the countertop, then seems to abruptly remember the recording and stops. “I think it’s just… well, no one’s allowed to take youth away from young people. So that’s why I’m here.”
You wonder what Gojo was like in school. He majored in gender studies, which you’re pretty sure is what Todo is at least minoring in, too—you’re not sure how it’s applicable to anything, but Nobara says he likes to pull his diploma out from behind the bar and say he’s an expert in women. It seems a far cry from this rare, more subdued version of Gojo you’re seeing right now. You’d guess he’s grown quite a bit in the time he’s been here. And Shoko’s been here to witness it.
He’s not a business owner, like Shoko or Geto. And according to Nobara, he definitely doesn’t need this gig to make a living. He’s here because he wants to be.
“These last few years have been nice, in particular,” he offers. “Just ‘cause some of us have kids going here. I mean, you know the Fushiguros. Suguru’s got the twins. And I know Ino’s not Nanami’s kid, but they’re tight.”
“Wait, what?” Nanami is the bar’s primary security guy, a bouncer who never lets a fake ID fool him. He’s part of the reason this place is so safe. Toge spins to look at you as you blurt out the question, caught off guard. “Uh, sorry. I just didn’t—I didn’t know they knew each other.”
Shoko studies you with tired, intelligent eyes, and you can’t help but feel the tables have been entirely flipped. You’re the one being interrogated, wordlessly, by the woman across the counter. You feel like every thought in your head is scrawled across your face for her to read.
“Yeah,” Gojo says, unaffected. “Ino looks up to him a lot, I think. Even though he’s an old man who reads the newspaper for fun.” He snorts. “He’s a good guy, though. And Ino’s a good kid.” He finally clocks the way Shoko’s looking at you and cocks his head, appraising.
Thankfully, Toge cuts in with another question. “So, we’ll be around tomorrow for the bands and to take some photos and observe,” he explains, glancing at you to make sure he’s got the information right. “Will Geto be around?” You’d wanted both owners’ perspectives, and now that Gojo’s reminded you of the twins, you’re even more curious.
“Yeah, Suguru and Utahime will be here tomorrow night,” Shoko says. “And Nanami. Geto would totally be down to talk to you some other time, too, when it’s a bit quieter.”
“Amazing,” you say, pulling the phone back toward you. You’ll need details, follow-ups, but you need to process this first, write some things down while they’re fresh in your mind. ‘Thank you so much for this. We appreciate it.”
“Anytime, kid,” Shoko says, waving you off. “See you tomorrow.”
As you turn off the recording, Gojo and Toge have already devolved into conversation about the bands and predictions about tomorrow night. A few posters are scattered across a low table near the door, and you pick one up, smiling at the blocky lettering advertising Black Flash. There are posters advertising all of the artists, and they look amazing, straight out of one of the alt rock venues in the wider city.
“They’re sick, right?” Gojo calls, nodding to the posters. “I gotta hang those up, actually. Thanks for the reminder.”
You wave goodbye to Shoko and Gojo and lead the way out, Toge just behind you.
“Man,” he says, and you brace yourself, recognizing his teasing tone for what it is. “They said Ino’s name and you look like scared Bambi or some shit.”
“Shut up,” you mutter, elbowing him.
He holds his hands up. “I’m just living in pursuit of the truth! Like Kusakabe would want.”
“Is your camera battery charged for tomorrow?” you say in a blatant attempt at a topic change.
“Who do you think I am?”
“Toge Inumaki, chronically irresponsible student and—”
“Okay, sorry I asked, holy shit.” He sticks his tongue out at you. Then he hesitates, frowning, and then he’s pulling out his phone and calling someone in his favorites list before you can see who it is. “Hey,” he greets. “What? No, she didn’t kick me out. Hey. Hey.” You snicker and Toge glares at you, pressing the phone closer to his ear. “Yutaaa,” he whines. “Do you know where my camera battery is?”
—
Even when you’re not the one on stage, you live for Fridays at The Fix. Tonight you’re doing double duty—because of the dual elimination at the end of the round, all of the competing artists are here. It’s not a requirement, but you want to see what you’re up against, and the sentiment seems to have carried. You and Toge are also in reporting mode for your project story.
The band on stage right now is… well, you can’t say new wave metal is really your thing, but it’s definitely theirs, and the audience is loving it. The Cull, you write in your notes. Look up names.
You couldn’t make out the lyrics if your life depended on it. It’s three guys and a girl, vaguely familiar, but you’re fairly certain they’re seniors and absolutely certain they’re baked right now.
“God, this is loud.” Yuta winces, turning to face you, and then his eyes flicker to something over your shoulder. You divert your attention from the stage and just catch the brief commotion in your periphery. Nanami has a kid by the elbow, and he’s escorting him out the side door, expressionless. The kid’s obviously drunk out of his mind, tripping over himself, shouting something that Nanami doesn’t bother to respond to.
Maki follows your gaze and wrinkles her nose up in distaste.
“Who’s that?”
“My cousin,” she says flatly. You glance quizzically at Megumi, who is definitely standing five feet away and not being escorted out of the bar.
“Dude, how much family do you have at this school?”
She sighs. “Just Mai and Megumi and him. Naoya. He’s a piece of shit.”
“Clearly,” Toge says. “He broke the M theme. No respect for the family alliteration.” Maki kicks him in the shin.
“One last round for The Cull!” Panda calls from the stage, and your ears slowly, very gradually stop ringing with the raging new wave music. The stage techs get to work behind Panda as he introduces the next group.
“Up next, making their debut, we’ve got a sophomore girl pop trio. Give it up for MOTION CAPTURE!”
There’s a big cheer from the bar, and you turn to see Geto grinning. Three girls take the stage, the blonde one grabbing the mic and adding, “All caps!” The girl beside her is very obviously her twin sister, though her hair is straight and dark while the blonde’s is tugged into pigtails. Light and dark. The girl on keys has a long, black bubble braid that she pushes out of the way as she settles in to play.
The blonde plugs in her electric and calls out, “Alright, I’m Nanako.” She tests out a chord, the sound reverberating, filling the bar all the way up to its high ceilings. “That’s Mimiko, that’s Remi, and we’re just here to have a good time.”
“Hey,” a voice says behind you, and you jump. You turn to find Takuma holding two drinks, offering one to you.
“Oh! Aw, thanks, you didn’t have to do that. How much do I owe you?”
He rolls his eyes. “Nothing.”
“Takuma—”
“Nothing,” he reiterates. “Anyway, The Cull. Thoughts?”
You take the drink and try it while you think on your answer—it’s the same thing Nobara got you last week. How did he know?
“I didn’t really understand any of the lyrics,” you admit, shrugging. “They weren’t bad. Not really my genre. Do you know them?”
Takuma shakes his head. “I had a gen ed once with that Rin kid, but I don’t know the other ones. These girls aren’t bad, though.” He’s right—they’ve launched into an Olivia Rodrigo cover that’s actually decent. They could work on their voice control, but they’re young and fun and having a good time and working the crowd, and that’s what it’s all about, isn’t it?
You sing along, alternating between your drink and exchanging quips with Toge and talking with Takuma. You like this new balance between your band and his, the easy camaraderie.
When the girls wrap up their set, you whoop and cheer and Kirara shamelessly watches Hakari move things off the stage, arms bare in his cut-off tank.
“You’re subtle,” Takuma tells her, and she tugs his beanie down over his face.
“Hey!”
You grab his drink before he can spill it and grin as he yanks his hat off and readjusts it. His hair is a fluffy mess underneath, and it’s kind of endearing.
When the girl pop trio is done, two guys take the stage, one in white and one in black. They’re clearly related, dark hair and pale skin and piercing eyes, and Panda introduces them as the Kamos. You don’t know if they’re brothers or cousins or what. But they’re good—they sing a few alt rock covers, play guitar.
“Damn,” Nobara sighs, a little longingly, her gaze settling on Choso as he takes over the chorus. “They’re…”
Beside her, Yuji wrinkles his nose. “Dude. That’s my half-brother.”
Nobara hums noncommittally. “And?”
He groans, tipping his head back and staring at the exposed beams of the ceiling, run through with colored lights. “Why does this always happen?”
Toge is taking more photos of them than is strictly necessary, considering your story is about the bar and not the band, but you let him have this. Scattered throughout the crowd are more kids with cameras, freshmen from the entry-level reporting classes with big underage stamps on the backs of their hands. Somebody mistook Toge for one of them earlier, and Maki hasn’t let it go all night.
You jot down atmospheric notes on your phone, little things that’ll help set the scene for your project lede, keeping an eye on the bar as much as you can. Geto has jumped in at the bar, which he usually does when the place gets busy, and Gojo is terrorizing Utahime again.
“How’d your interview go?” Takuma asks, nodding at your notes. It shouldn’t faze you so much that he remembers what you told him about your story, but you can’t help the little kick of your heart in your chest at the reminder.
“Good! Really good.” And then you catch sight of Nanami, back at the door after calling a cab for Maki’s asshat cousin. “Actually, Gojo mentioned you.”
Takuma’s brows shoot up. “Gojo? Why?”
Nanami has always seemed incredibly reserved, stony and silent in a way Takuma has never been. You don’t want to pry, but you’re also curious about the relationship between them, how they met, what they are to each other. The journalist in you wants to know.
And then there’s the part of you that just wants to know Takuma.
“Well, he was talking about the twins and the Fushiguros, and he kind of mentioned something about you knowing Nanami?” You try to sound casual, jerking your chin toward the door where Nanami is posted, like a tall, blond guard dog.
“Oh,” he says, surprised, but he shrugs, not seeming too alarmed by the question. “Yeah, I’ve known Nanami for… a long time. He’s kind of a mentor. He’s the reason I met Fushiguro in the first place, actually, ‘cause of him knowing Gojo.”
You’re considering asking how exactly they did meet when the Kamos wrap up, Nobara staring up at them dreamily, and the stage clears out for the final artist.
Whatever questions you had are thrown out the window, because you know who this is. Everyone knows who this is.
Fifth-year student and resident SoundCloud rapper, Ryomen Sukuna. Or D!SH0NORED1, according to the posters.
“Oh, here we go,” Megumi groans.
Despite his reputation on campus, you don’t know anyone who’s actually close to Sukuna, except Uruame. You mostly know that he deals at the skate park and that he’s clean about it.
And that his raps are truly, genuinely horrible.
He lets Panda give a stilted introduction and launches into a verse, mic too close to his mouth, making hand gestures or stepping to the beat of his backing track. His tattoos are even more stark and bold under the stage lights.
“My blood type’s B, your type is me, my zodiac Caprisun, it might be controversial but you’re still lookin’ at me, son!”
“Oh, sweet Jesus,” Kirara mutters. “I’m gonna bleach my eardrums.”
“Caprisun?” Nobara whispers. “Oh, dude.”
You might be a terrible person for thinking it, but watching this guy’s performance makes you feel infinitely better about your odds of advancing in the tournament.
His final song is a new one he introduces as Frosted Flexin’, and Maki looks like she’s about ready to keel over dead.
“Frosted flexin’, I'm the cereal king, pourin' oat milk in the mix, yeah, I'm doin' my thing,” Sukuna spits in his low voice, swaggering up to the front of the stage. You are trying so hard not to lose it.
“Sukuna being an oat milk truther wasn’t on my bingo card,” Toge says.
“Got the swag of a squirrel and the brain of a dove, call me trash, but you're still showin' me love.”
“Thoughts on the amount of swag a given squirrel possesses?” you ask Takuma. He laughs, loud and bright, and then seems to very seriously consider the question.
“I don’t know if campus squirrels have swag. They live in luxury. They probably eat better than we do,” he says. You can’t argue that—you did once see a squirrel outside your sociology class run by with a full bagel in its mouth. “The wilderness squirrels, though, I think they got a scrappy kind of swag. Like, I wouldn’t cross them.”
You nod sagely. “I want them on my team in the apocalypse.”
He nudges you with a shoulder. “Am I on your team?”
You glance at him, make a show of looking him up and down. Maybe you’re imagining it, but you think he’s blushing a little. “I don’t know. How fast can you climb a tree?”
Sukuna is nearing the end of his song, now, saying, “Off-tune, out of sync, yeah, I know it's a sin, but you'll play it back twice 'cause I still might win.”
He actually, physically drops the mic and Hakari swoops in and catches it, clearing his throat and saying into it, “Yep, friendly reminder that equipment’s expensive! Everyone give our last artist of the night a hand, yeah?”
There’s scattered applause and more than a few confused faces as Sukuna lopes off stage, and Panda hops back up to explain the voting system for anyone who wasn’t here last week. “QR codes to the Google form are posted around the bar,” he says.
Out of all eight artists, the bottom two will be eliminated. You’re nervous. But voting was open last week too. You can’t vote as a member of the band, and it’s all done through school Google accounts to avoid double votes or the link getting sent out to non-students.
“Open until tomorrow morning,” Panda reminds the audience. “Results and second round schedules will be posted on the Instagram at some point tomorrow! That’s it for this Friday at The Fix. Have a great night, folks. Get home safe.”
Gojo whoops dramatically from the bar, and Panda gives him a weird look before getting off stage.
Your friends start heading toward the door, and you grab Toge and excuse yourself to catch Geto at the bar. Gojo sees you first. “The newsies!” he calls.
“Like the musical?” you say in lieu of a greeting. “Banger soundtrack.”
“I could dance on newspapers,” Toge says.
“Geto!” The Fix’s other owner smiles at you, soft and genuine. Part of his dark hair is pulled back and the rest hangs loose over his shoulders, a stark contrast to Gojo—like the Kamos, you think, or like Nanako and Mimiko. Light and dark. “We were wondering if you’d be down to set up a time to talk. Has Gojo told you about our story at all?”
Geto smiles, drying a glass and leaning against the bar. “He told me he’s gonna be the front page of every paper in the city, which I assume is a horrid exaggeration,” he says. Gojo looks affronted. “Shoko mentioned you’re doing a feature for class, though. I’d be happy to.”
“We have our Monday night class time open for field reporting the week after this one,” Toge offers. “Will you be around?”
“I will indeed. Utahime, too, if you want to speak to both of us. And Gojo won’t be here, which might be beneficial for you.”
“Suguru,” Gojo gasps, pretending to stagger back. “You wound me.”
“Mhm,” he says, unaffected. “What time works best for you two?”
You set up a time to interview Geto and Utahime, then say goodbye to him and Gojo and run to catch up to your friends. It’s a nice night, and since you didn’t have to deal with instruments, you all decided to walk.
“How goes the… journalisming? Journaling?” Takuma asks when you fall into step beside him.
“Good, all good. Reporting is maybe a better word, but valiant effort.”
“I like journalisming. Can you just submit words to the official dictionary? I’m gonna do it.”
“No,” Toge says, and you blink. He shrugs. “What? I tried once. But the only submission form I could find was for the Bureau of Linguistical Reality and it wasn’t like, a legitimate dictionary form. There’s all these requirements, it’s horrible.”
“What word did you try to submit?” you ask warily, not sure if you actually want to know.
“Some things,” Toge says solemnly, “are better kept secret.”
The night is hazy, only small rays of moonlight piercing through the cloud cover, and you make your way through the campus roads guided only by the streetlamps and Maki’s reliable sense of direction.
Part of you wants to ask Takuma to come over, or Yuji to insist the band come over to his place again, just so you can keep talking. But you have work to do, things to write and transcribe, lists of follow-up questions to make, and that’s only your workload for this one class. You still have exams this week, and you need to study now so you can balance it with rehearsals. Assuming you actually advanced to round two, that is.
And part of you worries you might be taking this too fast, too. You don’t typically integrate people into your life so quickly. You like spending time with Takuma and Kirara and Yuji and even Megumi, though he’s pretty quiet. You just don’t want to jump in too far too fast.
At your place, you say your goodbyes and head up to your room to get some work done. Toge uploads his photos and puts them in your project folder on Drive. And you spend the night doing what you do best, aside from drumming—writing.
Youth for the young: JU alumni run safest live music bar in city limits
You don’t even notice the time until it’s past one in the morning, and you’re nearly asleep at your desk. The dark has crept across your room, the only source of light the desk lamp and your laptop screen. Finally, you push the computer shut and flick off the light, flopping into your bed. A few missed messages pop up when you hold your phone up, wincing at the bright screen.
takuma: just letting you know i made the treacherous journey home safely takuma: many miles of hardship takuma: thought i was gonna die halfway there
You smirk and type out a reply.
you: did kirara have to save you takuma: i resent that takuma: (yes) takuma: wait why are you up it’s so late you: journalisming you: why are YOU up takuma: travel adrenaline takuma: (coding project due monday that i just started) you: TAKUMA
The next text to come through is a voice note, and you can’t help smiling as you hit play and his voice fills the open air of your bedroom.
“Okay, in my defense, I thought it was due next Monday. Which maybe isn’t my defense because it means I just can’t read due dates, or maybe I just can’t read, but I thought I had a lot more time and then one of my classmates texted me asking for help on this block of code and I told him I hadn’t started and he was like oh my god, Ino, it’s due in three days, and I was like no it’s not, we have so much time—turns out we don’t have so much time, so I’m over here staring at my screen until the vessels in my eyes pop—”
He yawns, and it makes you yawn too, despite the screen separating you. “Sorry, agh. Anyway, I have to write this program that uses some kind of randomized generator…”
You find your eyelids fighting gravity, exhaustion washing over you as he explains the project and all the reasons he’s not that worried about getting it done by Monday because actually he’s on a roll and it turns out the code isn’t that different from a similar project he did last year so he can just lift the main blocks over and wow, he’s tired, and you stifle a laugh as the voice memo comes to an end and he says, “Okay, gosh, I should go to bed. You should go to bed. Stop journalisming, Skip, get some sleep. G’night.”
You grin, plugging your phone in and sending him a voice memo of your own.
“I’m done journalisming. Still haven’t written that story on you, though. Night, Takuma.”
The last thing you see before you fall asleep is his reaction to your text. It’s a thumbs up, but after a few seconds, it disappears, replaced with a heart.
—
“I’m gonna die,” Nobara groans.
You’ve been checking Instagram every hour on the hour for the bracket results, but to no avail. The five of you are sprawled out in the living room, a Fleetwood Mac record spinning in the corner, cups of coffee and tea and scattered remnants of breakfast dotting the table and the floor and the windowsill.
You have post notifications on for the Battle of the Bands Instagram page, but you check anyway, as if you somehow missed it.
“Okay,” Maki says. “Cut it out. No phones.”
“Maki,” Toge groans. “How do we live with the suspense?”
“Go around and give a rundown of your week?” Yuta suggests.
“Aw, highs and lows, it’s like elementary school,” Nobara says happily. “I’ll go first! High: annoying slacker guy in my marketing class got a shit grade on the group project and the rest of us got As. Low: Skipper won’t give me Ino lore.”
“Lore,” you mimic. “I don’t have any lore. We’ve known each other for like, two weeks.”
“That’s enough time for lore,” she insists. “What’s your high? Ino?”
“Okay, jeez,” you say. “Maybe it’s that Toge and I had a really good first interview for our project story.”
Toge blinks at you.
“Fine, maybe it’s Takuma.”
Nobara grins in a way you can only describe as malicious. “Okay,” you say, pointing at her. “Low: whatever that is.” She sticks her tongue out at you.
“My low is Skipper bullying me in class,” Toge says. “And my high is she said she’d be my partner, so I’m not gonna fail.”
Yuta nods sagely. “Maki?”
“Uhh,” she says eloquently. “My parents won’t stop pestering me about fall break. But I aced a test on Thursday in anthro, so there’s that.”
“You’re not going home, right?” you ask. She shakes her head resolutely. Maki doesn’t go home unless she absolutely has to—one thing she and Mai actually have in common.
All of your phones go off at once, a mix of buzzes and beeps and Apple watchfaces lighting up, and Nobara screams. “I can’t look!” she cries. “Someone tell me!”
You click on the notification and pull up the post, heart racing.
The first slide is a generic Battle of the Bands announcement with the cool ass graphics you’ve been seeing on the posters. Whoever designs those needs a raise. The second image is the bracket for next Friday, with the first knockout round of three—only one group will move on to the finals. “Who is it?” Nobara asks anxiously, pacing the room. “Oh god, I’m gonna die.”
“Shibuya Incident,” you read off, unable to keep the smile from your face. “Angel.” Nobara groans overdramatically. “And the Kamos.”
You swipe to the next screen, heart in your throat. OCTOBER 18, it reads. THE CULL. CURSED TECHNIQUE. BLACK FLASH.
“Oh my god!” you scream. “Oh my god, we made it!”
Toge yanks you to your feet and starts hopping around the living room, and Nobara shrieks with joy as you pull her into the celebration. Even Maki and Yuta are sporting wide smiles as they watch the three of you bounce around like kids on a sugar rush.
“What, no Sukuna?” Maki teases when you’ve calmed down. Toge clears his throat and does his best impression, going as far as to make his pants sag a little around his waist.
“Frosted flexin’, I’m the cereal king, pourin’… uh, duh nuh nuh, something doin’ my thing,” he says in a deep voice. “Uh… squirrel? Somethin’ fuego, that’s Spanish, uhhh…”
“Oh my god, let me look it up,” Nobara cackles, pulling up SoundCloud. “It’s I’m the king of bad decisions, got a throne made of Legos, took a bite of my mic and said these bars are fuego.”
Yuta physically winces. “Does he really sag his pants like that?”
Toge shrugs. “It felt right in the moment.”
“Wait, who’s the other one eliminated, then?” you ask, running through the bands in your head. Yours, Takuma’s, Black Flash, the Kamos…
“Motion Capture,” Maki says.
“No, it’s all caps. You have to shout it. MOTION CAPTURE!” Toge hollers. Nobara snorts.
You aren’t entirely surprised, but you have a feeling the girls aren’t too put out about it. They’re young, too—they’ll have their time to shine eventually.
You grin, flopping back onto the couch. “Okay, rehearsal when? Tonight?”
“Yeah, I have to go to a friend’s to figure some stuff out for a project, but I’ll be back at like… five?” Yuta says.
“Oh, fuck, I gotta go too!” Nobara says, darting toward the stairs.
“Group project?” Maki asks.
“Shopping! I gotta pick Miwa up in like, ten minutes!”
Maki rolls her eyes fondly. Yuta stands up and grabs his bag, heading toward the entryway, and the rest of you gravitate instinctually to the kitchen. Nobara is out the door moments later with a wave and a shout, and Toge grins.
“What,” Maki deadpans, not a question.
“I printed memes to hide on her Polaroid wall. Be right back.”
You snort, turning your attention to the window to watch Nobara cruise down the block. The view of her sleek, small car is interrupted by Yuta’s jungle of plants.
“I hope they’re not too cold,” he says, frowning as he tugs a jacket on over his white hoodie. “Do they look okay to you?”
“Yeah,” you say, pointing to the one in the white, ovular pot. “Especially this one, it’s getting so big! What’s his name, Snorlax?” Yuta had a phase where he named at least six plants in a row after Pokèmon.
“No, that one’s Rika, after that TV show,” Maki corrects, not looking up. Yuta blinks, looks between her and the plant, whose vines have started to creep up the window. A smile tugs at the corner of his lips. Both of your eyes on her have her looking up from her phone, expression flat and unaffected. “What?”
“Yeah,” he says slowly. “I didn’t know… anyone paid attention.”
Maki shrugs. “You talk to them out loud.”
“Yeah, I guess I do.” Yuta laughs and waves one last time before he walks out, closing the door behind him. You count to five in your head and then whirl on Maki, entirely unable to keep the shit-eating grin off your face.
“Kowalski, status report.”
She blinks at you. “What?”
“I said—”
“No, I know, just—on what? What happened?”
You groan, dragging the heels of your hands down your face. “Maki. Please.” You gesture wildly between her and the door, wondering if she’s genuinely this oblivious or if she’s just as good a liar as Mai. “Are you—did we not just witness the same interaction? Jesus, Maki, put the boy out of his misery!”
Seeing Maki frazzled is not a common occurrence. The most agitated you ever see her is talking about her family or trading passive aggressive jabs with Mai. This is an entirely new sort of disarray—she’s flustered.
“I—what?! I can’t do that! And he’s not miserable. He’s that nice to everyone.”
You groan, burying your face in your hands with your elbows on the counter. “Maki! He likes you. And your face is telling me you like him back.”
She scoffs, turning her head down and crossing her arms defensively. “I’m not messing things up by dating my bandmate. We live together, Skip, he’s my best friend, if things got messy—”
You hold up a hand. “First of all, offensive. I’m your best friend. Second of all, I hear no denial. Also, it won’t get messy. You are the two most mature people in this house and you know how to separate personal from practical. If anything, it’s gonna kill the vibes of the band and the house if you just keep stewing in the sexual tension.”
“Oh my god,” Maki groans. “There. Is. No. Sexual. Tension.”
“There’s always sexual tension,” Toge announces, walking in and jumping up onto the countertop, legs swinging. He looks between the two of you innocently. “What are we talking about?”
“You might be of some help, actually,” you say, turning to Toge with your hands clasped.
“Uh, actually? Not oh, Toge, you’re always so helpful, thank god you live with me and keep my life interesting—”
“Nevermind.”
“No, pleeease,” Toge insists, sticking out his lower lip. “What?” His gaze shifts to Maki, who’s blushing a furious red. His mouth turns into a small O. “This is about Yuta?”
You didn’t think she could get any more scarlet, but here she is.
“Does everyone think that?” she groans, throwing her head back in exasperation.
Toge shrugs. “I thought we were all just quietly skirting around it until you both snapped.”
“Nobara doesn’t skirt around anything,” Maki says.
“Well, there’s no way she doesn’t know,” you point out. “Maybe she just respects both of you enough to leave it alone.”
“Hah!” Toge snorts, poking you in the ribs. “That means she doesn’t respect you. She wants the Ino lore.”
“I’m gonna tell Nobara about the memes.”
“You wouldn’t dare.”
Abruptly, you realize you never got around to Yuta for highs and lows, what with the chaos of the brackets dropping. “Ah, guys,” you say. “We missed Yuta.” You pull up the house group chat.
you: YUTA DROP YOUR HIGH AND LOW IN THE CHAT you: YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN freak no. 1: yes you are utah: haha aw that’s nice utah disliked a message from freak no. 1 utah: uhh low is maybe that toge keeps leaving memes all over our room. like i keep finding them tucked in my notebooks and everything freak no. 1: SLANDER freak no. 1: LIBEL you: not the same thing freak no. 1: SHUT UP utah: high is someone remembers the names of my plants!! :) nobara: Sorry, using voice text while I drive. Who knows the names of your plants? You and God? utah: maki! :)
“Okay, well, respond,” Toge says, poking Maki in the side. She glares at him and likes Yuta’s message.
“Guys,” she says exasperatedly. “What the hell am I supposed to do? Does he know?”
And you’re not sure, honestly. You don’t know that Yuta is even aware of his own feelings, let alone aware that Maki reciprocates them. You shrug helplessly. “How about… ask?”
“Jesus,” Maki says.
“Not him, Yuta.”
Maki socks Toge in the shoulder and levels him with a disdainful look. “You are the bane of my existence.”
“And the object of all your desires,” Toge proclaims in a horrendous Bridgerton accent. He made you watch all of it with him in two days. Maki refused.
Now, she just shoves him, and he squeals as he falls off the kitchen counter.
“Children,” you sigh. “Do you need to be separated?”
“Yes!”
—
“Why is this so hard?” You stand with your feet planted on Takuma’s skateboard, which is confoundingly, entirely different than balancing atop your longboard. “Oh my god.” You lurch forward as the board rolls a bit to the left, unable to stifle the squeal that comes out of your mouth.
Takuma stops it with one foot.
“Your center of balance is lower on a longboard,” he laughs. “Like, here.” His hands wrap around your waist and you tense under his grip, and he immediately freezes, jerking his arms back. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t—”
“No! No, it’s okay,” you blurt, sheepish. “I just wasn’t expecting it, I—here.” You try to fight the blush furiously rising in your cheeks as you take his wrists in both hands, putting them back where they were. You clear your throat, suddenly too warm. “Um. Okay, so—do you turn the same way?”
“Pretty much. You just lean,” Takuma says, and you shift your weight to your heels, letting him steady you. “It’s a bit harsher than you would on a longboard, though. Unless you want me to send you right into kickturns?” His tone is teasing and you pretend to consider, tapping a finger against your chin.
“Mm. Maybe later.”
You’ve been at the skate park for a while now, and you’ve only recently ditched your longboard for the skateboard. Takuma brought the extra board you saw hanging on his wall the other day, and he uses it to demonstrate while you practice riding back and forth, getting a hold on your balance. After you feel like you can make it a good distance without pinwheeling your arms, you come to a staggered stop beside him.
A flash of blue-green hair grabs your attention, and you watch a kid in a lightning bolt hoodie slip under the ramps. The park has been pretty deserted today aside from a few guys doing tricks in the pit, a chilly Sunday with the sunlight muted by the clouds.
“Ooh, drug deal in action.” You poke Takuma in the side.
“Ah, probably Sukuna. He deals here all the time.” Sukuna’s business is one of those things everyone’s aware of but nobody talks about. He’s consistent and pretty safe, as far as drug dealers go, but he’ll deny any involvement while smoking a joint if he has to.
“Who’s space buns?”
“Uhh…” Takuma narrows his eyes, and the guy slips out again. “Damn, that was fast. Oh, that’s Hajime. Another senior, I think. They hate each other. Fastest deals I’ve ever seen.”
“I wonder how much of his songwriting is just… while he’s really, really high,” you muse. Swag of a squirrel doesn’t strike you as a particularly levelheaded thought, but hey, it’s certainly memorable.
Takuma leans in and says conspiratorially, “I’m pretty sure I heard him dropping bars here the other day when I was with Yuji.”
You snort and look up at one of the smallest ramps, one you think you could handle without falling on your face, and point to it with a raised brow.
“Oh, moving up in the world?” Takuma kicks his board up and starts walking over, and you do the same. Before you put the board down at the top of the ramp, though, you hold it up to the light, noticing a few short, white hairs caught on the surface.
“Is this… fur?” Maybe there was a cat hiding out somewhere when you were over. Kirara seems like she’d have a cat.
Takuma sighs. “Yeah, the dogs shed like crazy. It gets everywhere. I don’t think I even left that on the ground.”
Your jaw drops, and you stare at him until he looks back at you. “Dogs?”
“What? Yeah, Fushiguro’s—”
“Fushiguro has dogs? Dogs plural? In the house?”
“You didn’t know?”
“No!” you cry. “What? Oh my god! Where were they on Wednesday? How many? What are their names?”
Takuma leans back on the rail next to the ramp, grinning. “I can’t believe you didn’t know. Oh my god. They’re so cute. Tsumiki had them Wednesday, I think. Mandated auntie time. Do you wanna meet ‘em?”
“Do I want to meet them?” you repeat, practically bouncing on the balls of your feet. “Uh, yeah. Are they home? Oh my god. I love dogs.”
“I couldn’t tell,” he deadpans, but he’s smiling still. “Yeah, they’re home. And you can meet them if you go down this ramp without dying.”
“You’re cruel,” you say, situating yourself on the board. “But I will. And then I’ll meet the dogs and become their best friend and they’ll love me more than you and Megumi combined.”
“Confident.” He comes up beside you, checking your stance. The ramp didn’t look steep or long at all from your vantage point across the park, but now that you’re atop the board, it feels suddenly very steep and very long. “You got it. Just don’t panic, keep your stance.” He drops his own board and cruises down the ramp, hardly even trying.
“Okay, go!” he calls from the bottom. “C’mon, Skip, the dogs are waiting.”
“Oh, god,” you murmur, the wind catching your words and whisking them away. You ball your hands into fists and push off, planting your foot back on the board and trying to keep your knees bent, but not too stiff, as you careen down the ramp. Don’t panic, keep your stance. You’re at the bottom in what feels like nanoseconds, and the sudden shift from ramp to flat ground has you stumbling off the board with an embarrassingly high-pitched squeak of alarm.
“Nice!” Takuma laughs as he catches you, the board rolling a few more feet ahead. His arm is wrapped around your front, the other holding you up by the shoulder, and this time you don’t tense under his hands.
“Thanks,” you say a little breathlessly, grinning, the tiny spike of adrenaline making you almost lightheaded. He lets his hands drop when you’re steady on your feet, and part of you mourns the warmth a little. But there are more pressing matters at hand. “So, about those dogs?”
You opt for your longboard on the way back down your street, cruising along beside Takuma, who has his extra board tucked under his arm. You’ve got a lot to do tonight, all the last-minute preparation for another crazy week, but you can and will drop everything to pet a puppy. Or two. Always.
And they’re actual angels. Big, fluffy angels on earth, one white and one black, and they’re all over you the second you open the door.
“Hi!” you say happily, sinking down to their level. The white one immediately tries to burrow into your lap. “Oh, hello! You’re so nice, aren’t you?” You glance up at Takuma. “Where’s Megumi?” You grab the white one’s collar and check the tag—Shiro.
“Shiro thinks she’s a tiny dog,” he says, bending down to ruffle the fur behind her ears. “Uh, Fushiguro’s at the animal clinic. He works there Sundays. And Tuesdays, I think.”
“Wait, really?”
“Yeah, he’s a vet student. You didn’t know?”
“I did not.” The black one is licking your face, and you giggle and check his tag, too. Kuro. “Hi, Kuro. You’re a good boy, aren’t you?”
“He’s got such a soft spot for animals,” Takuma says as he kicks off his shoes. “You should see when they both try to sleep in his little twin bed. It’s ridiculous.”
“I love them,” you say, burying your face in Kuro’s scruff. “Hi, doggies. You’re awful cute, you know that? Mhm. Yes you are.”
When you finally look up again, Kuro’s cold nose nudging insistently at your palm, Takuma is leaning against the wall, looking down at you with his phone discreetly angled your way. “Takuma!”
He laughs, not bothering to hide it anymore, very clearly taking photos of you with the dogs. “It’s cute!” he insists. “I’ll send them to you. Proof for Fushiguro of your master plan to make them like you more than him.”
“And you,” you remind him.
“Well, I don’t know about that.”
You gesture pointedly to the two dogs, who are all over you and not him. It’ll be a nightmare trying to get all of Shiro’s white fur off your black jacket later, but it’s worth it.
“You’re new,” he says. “New scent. It’s the novelty factor. I am their favorite.”
“You sure? I’m pretty hard to compete with.”
He smiles, looking from you to the photos he took of you and the dogs. “Yeah,” he says. “You are.”
—
The first half of the new week goes by in a rushed routine of classes, homework, and rehearsals, each night ending with you collapsing into bed, new and old lyrics fighting for dominance in the back of your mind. Sticks re-taped and drum heads re-tuned, assignments turned in and drafts edited. Your classes are ramping up as midterms approach, and Yuta bounces between his own work and poking his head into everyone’s rooms, making sure they don’t forget about dinner.
Toge follows through on his snack run promise, and the two of you spend hours on Tuesday afternoon trading two different flavored bags of Doritos back and forth, Toge writing photo captions while you edit your story lede.
Takuma, Hakari, and Kirara have offered to help Cursed Technique record a single on Wednesday night, and the five of you have been drilling the new song you wrote up, down, and sideways.
Finally, Wednesday arrives, and you’re all crammed into the recording studio space, instruments set up and headsets tuned in.
“Yeah, I’m good,” Nobara says to Hakari on the other side of the glass. She taps a finger on the mic in demonstration, and you hear it in your own headphones.
“Great,” he says. “Skipper?”
“Skipper? I hardly know her,” Toge says, earning a harmless smack upside the head from Yuta and a not harmless smack upside the head from Maki.
“I will throw these at you,” you tell him, holding up your sticks. Toge sticks his bottom lip out, pouting.
A snicker from beside you draws your attention back to Takuma, kneeling just beside the throne as he adjusts the kick mic. He has you hit it a few times while Hakari monitors the levels. You feel oddly self-conscious like this, him looking up at you, but then he smiles and it’s not strange at all. It’s stupid how fast he can put you at ease with a look.
“Nice,” he says. “Okay, that should work, yeah, Hakari?”
It’s Kirara who answers, “Yeah, you’re good.”
Takuma stands up, claps his hands together once, and looks at you. “Okay. Kill it, Skip.”
“Yessir.” You salute him with a stick and he makes his way to the other room, closing the door behind him.
“All good?” Yuta asks, glancing at each of you in turn before giving Hakari a thumbs up. It’s strange to be on this side of the glass, to think about your music being played back, to think about it on Spotify, out in the world.
“Next Fix,” Takuma says into the mic, locking eyes with you through the window. “Take one in three, two…”
The song starts out simple. You click your sticks together near the mic, on two and four, while Maki lays down a four-bar loop.
Yuta keeps glancing at Maki while she plays, utterly unaware, and the look on his face is so soft you want to shake Maki by the shoulders until she does something about it.
Nobara’s got her eyes closed with the headset over her ears and her hands around the mic, entirely engrossed in the song.
“It’s comin’ on, comin’ strong, spinnin’ up out of the blue, mmm,” she sings, stretching out the vowels. “And I’m on the ground, bleedin’ out, until my next fix of you, ooh.”
Now you start up with a light rock beat, closed hat and a bit of a dragging buzz on the snare hits. Just as you transition into the beat, Toge comes in with some low chords and Yuta moves down the line in syncopated sixteenths.
Hakari is nodding approvingly and Takuma has a wide grin on his face, and you can’t help smiling back.
“I need it like a lung,” Nobara sings, swaying a bit. “I need it like a light. It’s got me twisted up. I need you here tonight, tonight, tonight, oh, oh, I wanna—”
And this part is your favorite—Nobara sings each two-syllable phrase while you pound on the toms twice, emphasizing it with the kick, and then the backup vocals echo her. Get my (get my) next fix (next fix) of you (of you, of you, of you.)
Kirara pumps her fist in the air twice, in time with the beat, and your bandmates can’t keep the smiles off their faces. You’ve got something here, you really do. This might be your best one yet.
When the song’s over, Nobara whoops and tugs off the headphones, jumping around the cramped studio space with a grin on her face. “That was so cool! Oh my god. Guys, we sound good. We actually sound good.”
“Damn,” Kirara calls. “Okay, girl drummer. Good shit.”
“Not bad for a first run,” Maki admits, adjusting her bass strap over her shoulder. “Do we wanna try recording backups separately at all?”
“Good call.” Takuma nods. “Let’s run that again without the backups and record them over, see what happens.” He’s in full producer mode, flipping switches, colored lights reflecting in his eyes as he and Hakari talk shop away from the mic. He’s good at this, you realize, running sessions like this, making sure things go where they need to go, that everyone’s heard, that things get done. It’s a little bit like watching him skateboard, or seeing him on stage. There’s a confidence to him here, a smooth, easy energy. He’s in his element.
“Alright,” he says after a minute. “Let’s hear that again.”
And you play it again. And again. And again. And you are so in love with this moment, with your band, with a couple rowdy kids on the other side of the window, the rasp in Nobara’s voice and the expression on Yuta’s face and Maki’s obliviousness and Toge’s consistent, head-banging keys, and your drums and your words and the music, and the lyrics feel right to you.
You need this like a lung.
ᰔᩚ Starstruck ᰔᩚ
Plot: Gianna Nicole (OC) is the main character in a huge blockbuster film. When Josh, who has the biggest crush that you could possibly have on a celebrity, finds out about a way to meet the cast, he jumps at the opportunity. And let’s just say that, by the end of the night, his dream girl isn’t such a dream anymore.
Warning: Hefty flirting & lots of smut!
** Josh's POV **
"Morning lovebirds," I sing while hopping in the back seat of my brother and his wife’s SUV.
Trin giggles before matching my energy. "Good morning brotherrrr!"
"Morning uce," Jon replies, reaching back and doing our handshake. “You ready for today?"
Around a year ago, a romance/action movie named "Life in the Fast Lane" came out and it quickly became one of our favorites to watch together as a group.
Today, Netflix is hosting a preview of the sequel that's coming out in about two weeks.
It includes a watch party, food, drinks, and we even get to meet the cast from the movie on our way out.
"Hell yeah," I reply, buckling my seatbelt.
"He's ready to see his womannnn!" Trin teases, looking back and wiggling her eyebrows.
Jon snickers and I nod, not even denying it.
One of the main actresses from the movie, Gianna Nicole, will be at the event.
Since the movie came out, I've had the fattest crush on her.
"Damn right!" I reply, dancing in my seat.
We all share a laugh along with some jam sessions and small talk on the rest of the way to the theatre.
—————————————————————————————————
The movie just ended and it's time to meet the cast.
"There she is," Trin says just above a whisper, as we watch Gianna interact with a fan from afar.
I turn to them, running a hand through my freshly cut mullet. "How do I look?"
Jon bursts into laughter and Trin playfully whacks him.
"You look good Josh," she reassures me, brushing off my collar. "You've got this."
I nod and walk on over to the back of the line in front of Gianna’s table.
As it gets shorter, I feel my heart race faster and faster.
Soon enough, the person that was once in front of me shares a hug with her and walks away, allowing security to let me through.
Once we make eye contact, she stops in her tracks and tilts her head.
As if she’s putting the thought aside, she shakes her head quickly.
"Heyy!" she coos sweetly, holding out her hand.
"Hi," I reply, taking and shaking it. "I'm Josh."
"It's so nice to meet you," she exclaims, smiling. "Thanks for coming."
"Thanks for having me," I reply, smiling back.
Fuck. She's even more gorgeous in person.
"Aw thank you," she says shyly, blushing and looking down.
Josh you fucking idiot!
"Oh god I-I'm sorry," I say, mentally face palming myself. "I must've been thinking out loud."
She chuckles. "It's alright. I appreciate the compliment anyway."
I laugh awkwardly, looking back at Jon and Trin.
They're interacting with another actor and, as if the twin connection is stronger than ever, Jon looks over at me and gives me a thumbs up.
I nod quickly and look back at Gianna, who's signing a movie ticket - one of the collectibles they're giving away.
I thank her once she hands it to me.
"Anytime Jey," she replies, smiling and capping her Sharpie.
I stop in my tracks. "You know who I am?"
She chuckles lightly. "Of course! I'm a huge fan of WWE. It took me a second to realize it was really you though."
"Always nice to meet a fan," I reply with a wink.
She playfully rolls her eyes and flashes a gorgeous smile. "For both of us I'd say."
We share a laugh and take a picture.
"Thanks so much for this," I coo, as we share one final hug.
"Of course," she exclaims, pulling away. "It was awesome to meet you."
"You too," I reply.
We exchange smiles and I walk outside, where my brother and sister in law are waiting.
"Sooo," Jon begins, walking over with Trin once the door to the building closes and we're out of earshot. "How'd it go?"
I smile, shrugging. "Pretty well. She's a fan of WWE and recognized me."
"Shut up!" Trin squeals in shock.
I chuckle and look back, watching Gianna through the clear glass window. "I was surprised too. I just hope she comes to one of the shows or something."
She looks back and, once we make eye contact, smiles and waves.
I do the same and she goes back to her conversation with the final fan in line.
"Trin and I are gonna go get the car," Jon exclaims, taking his keys out of his pocket. "You wanna stay here or?"
He nods toward inside when saying that last part.
I nod as well, sliding my hands into my jean pockets. "Sure, you guys go. I'll be here."
He nods, claps me on the back, grabs Trin's hand, and they walk off towards the parking garage.
I lean against the building and scroll on my phone until, moments later, I hear the door open.
I look over and see the woman of my dreams once again.
"Oh," she begins. "Hey again!"
I flash her a smile. "Hey. Your meet n greet over?"
"Yeah just about," she replies, putting her hands in her jacket pockets. "Technically there's still five minutes left, but that was my last fan and I figured I should head home early while I have the chance, you know?"
I nod. "I get you."
Awkward silence, with just the faint sound of Atlanta traffic up the street, takes over before she speaks up again.
She smiles and nods as well, before taking a deep breath. "Well, it was nice seeing you again."
"Yeah you too," I reply as she starts to walk off.
Come on Josh. You've got this bro.
"Hey! Wait up!" I call, making her turn around.
"Yeah?" she asks, slowly strolling back.
I take another deep breath.
"W-would uh," I stutter.
She smiles softly, tilting her head.
Get it together uce!
"I was just wondering if you'd....like to go out sometime?"
She raises an eyebrow and smiles wider. "You? Wanna go out with me?"
I blink a few times before responding. "Y-yeah. Unless you don't want to. Then that's fine. I just wanted to ask b-"
"I'd love to," she responds, cutting me off before chuckling.
Thank god.
I let out a sigh of relief and smile. "Good. Great. Uh how about tonight? I know some nice spots here in Atlanta if you need some showing around."
She nods. "Sure. That sounds nice."
We hand each other our phones and exchange numbers, as well as her hotel address.
"Awesome," I exclaim, as we share another hug. "I'll see you tonight."
"See you then!" she calls as she's walking away.
I catch a nice glimpse of her ass before being rudely interrupted by my brother, who's calling me from the curb.
"Shut up! I'm coming!"
—————————————————————————————————
** Gianna's POV **
I picked out a casual but still chic outfit for tonight: a black corset, some ripped jeans with a Gucci belt, panda dunks to match Josh, some cute jewelry, and a black purse.
I touch up my hair in my hotel bathroom mirror and spray some of my favorite perfume: Into the Night by Bath and Body Works.
I'm actually really excited about this "date" that Josh is taking me on.
I've been a fan of him and his twin for a while now.
The only thing is, I don't have the best history with guys.
They've all just kinda used me for my looks and lost interest once they found out that I'm not some rich Hollywood snob.
So I definitely plan on treading lightly tonight.
Anyway, I genuinely hope that Josh is different.
I really like him.
And he gets bonus points for being fine as hell. Duh!
My text tone shakes me out of my thoughts and I smile when I see who it is.
Josh 🫦: Hey love. I'm outside.
Gianna 😮💨: Heyy I'll be right there! 🫶🏽
Josh liked "Heyy I'll be right there! 🫶🏽"
I do some final touches to my appearance, grab my bag, and head out.
"Hey girl," Josh coos, scanning my body up and down. "You look amazing."
I smile and blush lightly. "Thank you. You do too."
He smiles and wraps me into a hug, to which I respond with my arms around his waist and my head on his chest.
God he smells incredible.
Once we pull away, he opens the passenger door for me and takes my hand, helping me in.
"Such a gentleman," I tease, flicking my hair back.
He smirks goofily and kisses my hand, causing us both to share a laugh.
Soon enough, he hops in as well and we're off.
The car ride is so much fun, filled with small talk and our favorite songs playing.
—————————————————————————————————
Josh took me to, what he called, all of the top spots in Atlanta.
From Atlanta Botanical Garden, to World of Coca Cola, and even Piedmonts Park, everything was such a blast.
We're ending our night out with his personal favorite place: Waffle House.
He orders us his go-to: two waffles with chocolate chips, six scrambled eggs with cheese, & triple scattered and covered hash browns.
"And for your drinks?" the waiter asks, after jotting down our order on his notepad.
I look over at Josh, signaling him to hook me up with that as well.
He chuckles and looks back at the man. "We'll do four lemonades please."
"You got it," the younger man replies, taking our menus.
Once he walks away, I raise an eyebrow out of curiosity.
"Yup four," Josh says, as if he could read my mind. "All that food makes you extra thirsty, you know what I mean?"
"Ah," I reply, nodding my head slowly.
He smiles and looks back up once the waiter returns with our lemonades.
"Thanks uce," Josh says, sliding two over to me.
"No problem," the man says, patting him on the shoulder. "Your food will be out shortly."
"They love you here," I exclaim, twisting off the cap.
He chuckles and nods. "Yeah I'm here all the time. My entire family loves it here. Even my kids."
I raise my eyebrows and take a sip of my drink. "Kids?"
He nods. "Yeah I got two of 'em. Two boys. Jeyce and Jaciyah. They're my world."
I smile, tilting my head. "That's so sweet."
He smiles back.
I take a deep breath before speaking up again. "And their mom?"
He sighs. "We were together since high school and mutually divorced about a year ago. The distance with my work wasn't really working out."
I nod understandably.
"I think it's hard on them sometimes," he continues. "The whole split parents thing. But they're great."
I give him a soft smile. "Yeah I get it. My parents split up when I was young too. It's not easy."
He nods and gently bites his lower lip.
"But they have a great dad to keep them grounded," I continue, taking his hand from across the table.
He looks into my eyes and flashes me a gorgeous smile. "Thank you, Gi."
I smile back, nodding. "Sure."
He looks back down at our hands and strokes mine with his thumb.
The faint sound of other patrons' silverware hitting their plates takes over before he speaks up again.
"What about you?" he asks, breaking the comfortable silence. "Any kids or anything?"
I shake my head, biting the inside of my cheek. "Nah nothing like that. Though I think it'd be nice someday."
He nods his head, still stroking my hand.
"I guess I just never met the right person," I say just above a whisper.
We lock eyes, resulting in me blushing like a maniac.
He chuckles. "Well sometimes, the right person can be found in the places you least expect them."
I nod and tilt my head. "Like at a Waffle House?"
He chuckles, nodding. "Like at a Waffle House."
I join in and, as if on cue, the waiter comes back with our food.
We dig in and let me just say: I get the hype!
—————————————————————————————————
Josh and I just pulled up back to my hotel.
Once again, he opens the passenger door for me and leads me into the building and to my room.
"You wanna stay for a little while?" I ask, fishing my room key out of my purse.
He shakes his head. "Nah, I really shouldn't. Uce and I got a flight early tomorrow morning and his wife would kill me if we're late."
I chuckle, nodding. "Understandable."
He takes a deep breath before breaking the silence. "You plan on coming to any shows soon?"
I shrug while inserting the key and opening my door. "I haven't thought about it, to be honest."
Another gorgeous smile grows on his face. "Say the words and I'll book you the next flight out. I'd kill to see you again, baby."
I lean against the doorway and fold my arms across my chest, raising an eyebrow. "Baby, huh? Are you flirting with me, Joshua Fatu?"
"Maybe I am," he replies, cupping my face and stroking my cheek with his thumb.
I shake my head and wrap my arms around his neck, playing with his curls. "You really are something else."
"And you love it," he replies sexily, trailing his hands down my sides.
I roll my eyes playfully and giggle as he pulls me closer and places his lips on mine.
I automatically kiss back, standing on my tippy toes as his hands roam down to my lower back, dangerously close to my ass.
With every stroke, I fall deeper and deeper in love.
He's most definitely the one.
He has to be.
It’s a real nice kiss and, not gonna lie, I was pretty bummed when it ended.
"Mmm," Josh moans against my lips, slowly pulling away from me. "On second thought, I could always drive back home in the morning."
I giggle, still playing with his hair. "Are you sure? I don't want your sister in law to hate me before we even get the chance to meet."
He chuckles and pecks my lips, stroking my sides. "I'm sure, baby. Let's go inside. I'm tryna have a good ole night witchu."
I smirk and take his hand, leading us into my hotel room, and he shuts and locks the door behind us.
"Make yourself at home," I exclaim, tossing my purse aside. "I'm gonna change out of these clothes."
He nods, sitting on the sofa. "Aight, love. I'll be here. Take your time."
I shoot him a soft smile and head into the bedroom.
After about a minute or two of looking through my luggage, I find a cute and comfy pajama set.
I change and head into the connected bathroom to do my nighttime routine - including taking off my makeup and throwing my hair into a bun.
I walk back out to the living room space and Josh looks up from his phone when he sees me, immediately scanning my body while licking his lips.
"I know you ain't lookin that good in some damn pajamas," he compliments, tossing his phone aside.
I playfully roll my eyes and take a seat on the couch next to him. "Thank you."
"Nah girl," he says, patting his lap. "This right here is the spot."
I giggle and give in, throwing my leg across him and straddling him.
"Happy?" I ask sarcastically, leaning into him and wrapping my arms around his neck.
He hums in approval, nodding and immediately grabbing handfuls of my ass. "I got the baddest chick in the world on my lap.
I smirk and kiss the corner of his mouth. "I don't know about in the world, but I'll take it."
"Girl bring yo ass-" he places his lips on mine, resuming our steamy kiss from earlier.
I giggle against his lips, immediately tangling my fingers in his curls and adding tongue.
He lets out a deep and sexy moan, as our tongues fight for dominance.
Of course, his wins.
Soon enough, without breaking the kiss, he gets up, bringing me with him.
Knowing what's coming next, I wrap my legs around his waist and deepen the kiss, holding either side of his face.
When we get into the bedroom, he sits down on my bed and breaks us apart, both of us breathing heavily and panting.
"Baby," he begins, stroking my thighs. "I know what you was saying earlier at dinner. You mentioned wanting to take things slow?"
I sigh deeply, playing with his chain. "I wanted to. But after today, I trust you Josh."
He smiles as if he's relieved. "You sure?"
I nod, biting my lip and giving him a soft smile. "You took such good care of me today. I loved every second of my time with you. And none of that is anything I'm used to."
He nods understandably, cupping and stroking my face.
"I know we just met," I continue. "But I wanna go all the way with you. You're different, Joshua. And I love that."
He smirks and kisses my cheek. "I promise to take care of you, baby. If you'll let me."
I nod, sliding my hands up his chest and onto his shoulders. "I trust you, daddy."
He raises an eyebrow. "Daddy, huh?"
I blush and lean in, pressing our lips together once more.
He automatically kisses back, picks us up again, and lays me down on the bed.
** smut warning! **
Breaking the kiss once again, he stands up, discards everything except his boxers, and tosses everything across the room.
Fuck he's gorgeous.
I prop myself up on my elbows and bite my lip, admiring his cultural tattoos.
"I think I'm a little overdressed," I say, just above a whisper. "Help me?"
He licks his lips and reaches down to peel off my top and bottoms, leaving me in only my pink lace panties.
"Fuck," he mutters under his breath. "Look atchu, baby."
I stare deep into his eyes, which scan my entire body and land on the pool between my legs.
"Soaked for me already, hm?"
I let out a breathless moan as he kneels down and strokes my folds back and forth with his thumb.
"Your moans are so gorgeous," he compliments, and kisses each of my thighs.
I can't help but slide my own hand into my underwear and pleasure myself.
He chuckles deviously. "Greedy little girl, aren't you?"
"D-daddy I need you," I manage to say, rubbing tiny circles onto my clit.
"You got me baby," he replies and slowly pulls down my panties, finally leaving me fully nude.
He practically drools at the sight he's brought with.
"Pretty ass pussy," he practically moans, stroking my thighs. "Spread that shit for me, princess."
I do so with my index and middle fingers, spreading open my lips.
He feathers light kisses onto my pearl, before darting out his tongue and giving my clit a singular lick.
"Daddyyyy!" I whine, wrapping my fingers in his dreamy curls. "Stop teasing meee!"
Just then, he catches me off guard and shoves his face between my legs.
Moans uncontrollably leave my mouth and my back immediately arches as his tongue flicks and lips suck desperately.
Just minutes later, I feel a pit in my stomach, signaling that I'm slowly but surely hitting my climax.
"J-Josh," I manage to get out between moans. "B-baby I'm gonna-"
And before I can finish my sentence, I've released not only in his mouth, but all over his beard.
"Cum," I mutter, finishing my sentence.
He chuckles and licks me clean before heading back up to me.
"You taste incredible baby," he coos, and presses his lips to mine.
I automatically kiss back and moan at the sweet taste of my essence, wrapping my arms around his neck.
I tug on his bottom lip gently before pulling away.
"Lay back handsome," I demand, crawling down to his waist.
"Mmm," he moans, slapping my ass. "Go get yo dick, baby."
I rub his hard on through his boxers as he watches on, stroking my hair.
I pull them down slowly, allowing his massive dick to spring free.
My jaw practically drops at his size.
At least 8 inches, so veiny, and the most perfect bright pink tip.
Not wasting a second, I grab it by the base and trail kisses up and down his length.
"Fuuuuck," I hear him whisper, throwing his head back.
I smirk and start adding tongue, swirling my tongue around the tip and eventually sucking him off.
He grabs a fistful of my hair and takes control, bobbing my head up and down.
I immediately gag once he reaches the back of my throat, letting the utmost amount of saliva drip down to his balls.
"Fuck," I mutter, jacking him off once my mouth is empty again. "Daddy you're huge."
He smiles at the compliment and tucks a strand of hair behind my ear. "You're doing so good, ma."
I bite my lip and immediately go back to pleasuring him, this time sucking his balls.
His hips jerk at the feeling, deep and sexy moans uncontrollably pouring out of him.
"That's it baby," he whispers. "Getcho nut."
Just then, an idea comes to me.
I scoot up and wrap his dick in between my breasts, and start bouncing up and down.
"Shit," he mutters.
"Wanna feel them daddy?" I offer, before sticking my tongue out and letting saliva drip down my chest.
He smirks and sits up.
"Fuck baby," he moans, massaging them and toying with my now rock hard nipples. "They're so soft."
I blush at the compliment and start bouncing again, making direct eye contact with him.
About another minute goes by before, without warning, he releases all over my chest and breasts, his dick twitching from the after effects.
I scoop some up with my finger and suck on it repeatedly, cleaning myself up.
"You're wild girl," he coos, sitting up and pulling me in by my hips, making me stand between his legs.
"Mmm and you love that," I reply, wrapping my arms around his neck.
He puckers his lips and I gladly accept, leaning down and placing my lips on his.
We only share a quick peck, before he takes one of my nipples into his mouth.
I moan, throwing my head back and running my fingers through his mullet.
"P-please," I whine, as he reaches down and starts stroking my clit some more.
He hums, pulling his face away after placing a kiss on my left areola. "Please what baby?"
I can't manage to get a singular word out, as I'm practically riding his fingers.
"Talk to daddy," he demands, stopping them.
"I-I nee-need you inside me s-so badly Josh," I say in between moans, still grinding my hips.
"Good girl," he coos, and pulls my hips down, making me hover over him.
I reach down, line his dick up with my pussy, and carefully sit down on it.
"Oh fuck," he whispers, grabbing and caressing my ass. "Mama you're so tight."
"And you're so big," I say breathlessly, holding onto his shoulders for support.
We lean in and share a quick kiss before he starts moving.
"Feels good baby?" he reassures.
"Uh huh," I moan in reply, massaging my tits with my head thrown back.
He smirks and kisses my cheek.
"F-faster please da-addy," I stutter. "F-fuck me faster."
"You got it sexy girl," he replies, and starts thrusting harder and faster, bouncing me up and down by my ass.
"Oh yes!" I practically scream, burying my face into his neck.
"Fuck," he mutters, as the strokes become more sloppy and louder.
"Sit up baby," he demands. "I gotta cum."
I shake my head, bouncing some more. "Cum in me, daddy. Please."
His mouth drops open. "A-are you sure?"
I nod quickly in response. "I'm on b-birth control, baby. Fill m-me up please."
"Alright," he gives in. "But you gotta cum with me, baby. Deal?"
"U-uh huh," I reply, reaching down and rubbing fast circles on my clit.
Soon enough, we both explode all over each other.
** smut over! **
I climb off of him and fall onto the bed.
He smiles softly, rubbing deep circles into my back dimples. "You feel good, baby?"
I nod, my mouth still hanging open.
He chuckles and squeezes my cheeks gently.
He brings my face up to his and allows our lips to meet once more.
"Mmm," I moan into his mouth breathlessly before pulling away. "You're amazing, you know that?"
"Me?" he asks, placing a hand on his chest dramatically. "Girl you're incredible.”
I blush lightly as he continues to compliment me in between kisses.
"How does a bath sound?" he asks, stroking my face with his knuckle.
"Like heaven," I reply, dreamily staring into his eyes and stroking his hair.
He smiles and places a kiss on my lower lip before getting up.
I watch on as his fat and firm ass walks away and disappears into the bathroom.
We spend the rest of the night stealing more kisses from each other, making more small talk, and just overall enjoying each other.
I truly don't think I've ever felt this way for anyone - not recently anyway.
"Get some rest mama," Josh coos before kissing my hair.
I smile, stroking his chest, which my head is laid on as well. "Goodnight, love."
Soon enough, we both doze off to sleep to the sound of each other's breathing.
Is it possible to be in love with someone you only met 12 hours ago?
Summary: A few years after moving to Gravity Falls and having his lab built, Stanford Pines happens upon his estranged twin brother, Stanley. Rating: M for language, violence, and adult implications
Preface: Dialogue only, but some actions will be annotated for clarity. Cross-Posted on AO3 Here
First - Prev - Next
“Hey F, could I get some of that dip? Someone threw all of my cans of Snus away when he confiscated my stuff.”
“Sure thang, handsome. Oh- you sure you need that much Stan? You’ve cold-turkey’d nicotine for weeks now.”
“I’ll be fine, stretch. It’s not like I haven’t done worse for less.”
(...)
“Fiddleford, is there a particular reason Stanley is under the table in the recovery position?”
“He tried too much chew all at once, he’s got the nic-sick.”
“Stanley, I told you that you needed to quit that nasty habit! This is precisely why I threw your tobacco products away when you came here.”
“Y’know this headache was bad enough without you yelling at me.”
“I cannot believe you enabled him.”
“Stanford, he's a grown man, he’s allowed to use nicotine if he wants to.”
“He can still hear you. And you know what? I don’t think you ever need to bitch at me about it ever again, Doc. I’m not touching the stuff again for a long time…”
“It’s for your own good.”
“PhD, next time you think about saying that I want you to remember I’m not above hitting a guy with glasses.”
(...)
“Stan, how old are you?”
“Twenty-seven going on twenty-eight.”
“Do you remember when your birthday is?”
“Not the date, no. I know it’s late spring or early summer.”
“And I know your memories are hazy, but did you ever… celebrate it?”
“I think the last time I did was before I was on the streets. After that? There wasn’t a point, I was alone. Why do ya need to know, F?”
“I’m just checking is all.”
(...)
“Stanford, how old are you?”
“Twenty-seven.”
“When is your birthday?”
“June 15th.”
“And if I remember correctly from BMU, you never celebrate it?”
“Last time I did I was seventeen.”
“Can you tell me why?”
“I told you back then Fiddleford, I did not see a point, I was-...”
“Used to sharing it?”
“Why?”
“I’m just checking is all.”
(...)
“So each of these is supposed to be your, what, doctors cert?”
“Doctoral degree, and yes.”
“So you have a dozen of them?”
“Yes.”
“Wow. Twelve whole PhDs? That’s pretty cool.”
“...You really think so?”
“Yeah, most people don’t even got one - but you got one for each finger huh?”
“That’s not why I-. Well, yes, I suppose I do.”
“Stanford! Stan! I’m back, come over to the kitchen!”
“Do ya know what he left for?”
“He did not say.”
“Why’d he turn out the ligh-.”
“Surprise!”
*Stan and Ford stop at the entryway to the kitchen. Fiddleford is standing next to the table, which has a sheet cake and twenty-eight lit candles*
“...”
“Fiddleford, what is this?”
“I know you said you don’t see a point to your birthday, but I couldn’t help myself.”
“Oh, it’s your birthday?”
“...Stanley. It’s not just my birthday.”
“Are you okay Stan? You’re looking spooked. I apologize if I put you on the spot-”
“N-No. I’m fine. It’s uhh- I don’t even know when my birthday is.”
“It’s today. We’re twins.”
“...”
“You still don’t believe-.”
“Wouldn’t, you know, the other guy, be upset?”
“There is no ‘other guy’, it’s literally you.”
“I’m- I don’t… I don’t know what to tell you.”
“Stanley, I understand you’ve stubbornly held onto the belief that I’m insane and trying to replace something I’ve lost-”
“The cake’s getting covered in wax here, fellers.”
“But I haven’t celebrated my birthday in a long time, because I’m used to sharing it. I am not trying to force you to, but I’m requesting you let me share it with you; I want to share it with you.”
“...Fuck it, I said I’d play along with your delusions until you got over it. Okay, PhD, I accept your offer. But I’m taking all of the corner pieces of the cake.”
“I can accept those terms.”
“Okay you two, I don’t think we got enough time to sing the happy birthday song before the candles melt themselves outta their wicks. So just blow ‘em out and make your wishes.”
(...)
“Hello, Dr. Stanford Pines speaking.”
“Stanford?”
“Hey Ma.”
“Happy birthday hon.”
“Thanks Ma.”
“Please tell me you celebrated your birthday this year. I know your last one couldn’t have been easy after-”
“I was busy with research last year. This year, yes I celebrated, I have… Company, this time.”
“Oh, that’s wonderful. Listen hon, I know it hasn’t been easy without Stanley since… the accident.”
“I’ve had more than enough time to think about it. I am not going to lie to you and say I’m not upset at all, but it’s been long enough that I have other things to concern myself with.”
“I just want you to know if things get too hard, don’t be afraid to talk to your old Ma again.”
“...I’ll keep that in mind.”
“I love you, Stanford.”
“I love you too, Ma.”
Since it's the Bills bye week and the Vegas GP, here's a quick little one-shot of Daniel going to Buffalo for the weekend that I wrote at 2am while watching quali
Though he stays in Los Angeles for the LA Kings game, Daniel is quick to leave sunny California for rainy Buffalo. “It’s bye week, I could come over there-”
“I like your bed better than the one I have here,” Daniel cuts off Josh when they’re talking on the phone. He’s technically not in Vegas, but it’s just a short 4 hour drive which is completely doable and Daniel wants to put as much distance as he can between him and the streets he should’ve been racing on.
“It’s dreary here and cold, baby,” Josh retorts.
“More the reason for me to have you all over me,” Daniel replies, unable to help the grin that takes over his face. Thoughts of Josh did tend to distract him from everything and right now Daniel needed the distraction.
“Want me to pick you up from the airport? I’ll get a sign and flowers, the whole shebang,” Josh jokes, but still half serious. Daniel knows he only needs to say the word and Josh would do it. Hell, he’d made an offhand comment about Josh promoting Enchante once and the younger man now took every opportunity to wear Enchante for his pre-game tunnel walks.
“Yeah?” Daniel asks, “save the flowers for another time, bring a blanket.”
He should’ve known that Josh would take his words to heart and find the most comfortable blanket in existence to greet Daniel with. “Hi, baby,” Josh says, wrapping the warm blanket around Daniel’s shoulders as he pulls him into a hug. It’s innocent and platonic and exactly how everyone would expect them to greet one another in such a public setting. Later, when they’re in the confines of Josh’s home, there’ll be a kiss and quick tugging off of clothes as they stumble from the front door to the closest bed or sofa. For now, Daniel breathes in the warmth and comfort of Josh’s hug.
“Missed ya,” Daniel mumbles despite the fact it’s not been very long since they last saw one another. Not long since they’d broken a table that Josh had Daniel bent over on. “Wanted to celebrate with you again,” he continues.
“Want me to put you through a table again, baby?” Josh questions with a smirk as he pulls away just the slightest, letting in cold air between them much to Daniel’s dismay. It’s a sign that they should put a move on it and get to Josh’s home so Daniel can make grabby hands at a naked Josh instead of just chasing the warmth of a hug.
____
“It’s unfair, you know,” Josh says suddenly. Daniel can’t begin to think what Josh thinks is unfair, not when they’re both naked and Daniel is giving him a blowjob.
“Hhm?” Daniel questions with a simple hum, absolutely refusing to take his mouth off of Josh’s dick to properly ask a question using words. He loosely wonders if he should be offended that Josh is thinking of something else while he’s got Daniel sucking him off.
“I can’t have sponsors on my uniforms like all the other guys you talk to,” Josh replies. And well, Daniel’s less offended since Josh is still thinking of him…and the other men that Daniel talks to?
“What?” Daniel questions, pulling off Josh’s dick with a pop. “Is this about Hunter?” he questions with a raised brow. Josh was far from the first of Daniel’s… friends… to reach out about the sponsor placement on Hunter’s racesuit. There had been many questions on how it got approved and what his individual sponsorship looked like. Daniel had ignored those texts in favor of partying in LA with the boys and planning a week-long trip to Buffalo that had Josh all over him – the very thing that was not currently happening due to the sponsor logo placement.
“Hunter? That’s his name? Really?” Josh questions.
“So why are we talking about sponsors when I could be sucking your dick?” Daniel inquires as he glances at Josh’s dick – still slicked with precum and spit and beaconing Daniel.
“I just, they get to wear parts of you, your symbol, while competing. And I can’t do that,” Josh replies. He tugs Daniel onto his lap, groaning at the pressure it puts on his cock, “fuck,” he mumbles.
Slowly moving his hips back and forth, Daniel latches onto Josh’s neck. Biting and sucking on the sensitive skin, Daniel leaves his mark for all to see. Though only a few people would know that Daniel had made the mark instead of someone else. But they would know. Him and Josh. They would know that Daniel had marked up Josh just moments after having Josh’s dick in his mouth. “There,” Daniel says, “now can I go back to sucking your dick?”
____
Saturday night comes and goes with Daniel in Josh’s bed.
His clothes are lost somewhere in the expanse of Josh’s closet and have been since the first day in Buffalo. Handprints and love bites cover the most intimate parts of Daniel, just as Josh’s inner thighs and mouth are slightly red due to beard burn.
“Do you wanna watch the race? I heard Max could-” Josh gets cut off with a kiss.
Daniel doesn’t want to think about Formula One or how it’s happening in Vegas as they speak or Max potentially winning his fourth championship. RIght now, the cars should be making their way to the grid with Max lining up fifth alongside Lando – his closest competition to the championship. He’d gotten front row seats to Max’s first championship win and the controversy behind it all, he’d been racing when Max won the second, and he’d watched the third championship win from the comfort of his home. And he wants to support Max, witness him win another championship, but Daniel also knows that watching a full race would only further hurt him and drive the sharp knife of Red Bull’s politics deeper into his heart.
“Could we just lay here?” Daniel asks, cuddling closer to Josh. “Just wanna be here with you,” he adds. Daniel doesn’t want to think of the sport he’d dedicated his life to or the team he’d given his blood, sweat, and tears to for the majority of his career.
“Anything you want, baby,” Josh replies, throwing an arm and leg over Daniel so he’s locked in place. Daniel smiles as he presses a kiss against one of Josh’s pecs.
Tomorrow, he’ll watch some of the race highlights and send the correct messages to everyone, but for tonight he’s going to focus on the naked man he’s sharing a bed with and desperately wants to introduce to his mother.
#my fic#dosh#daniel/josh#bills bye week coincides with the vegas gp so we could have had josh at the gp if daniel was racing#and i can't stop thinking of everything we could've had
